I'm not the cab is hardest part of the whole build. but it's got to be done and done right, I know there's a little rust.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

What all did you purchase for the gas tank? Tank Part #, Filter Part #, Gas Cap Part #, fuel line etc? Or did you purchase as a kit. I like what you have there and am preparing to do the same with mine.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

The tank and cap are from LMC. I don't have a part# they have two different ones side fill and top fill, that's what I have. You can see in some of my other posts the fill hole lines perfect with the board. The lines and fittings are from summit racing, they are size 6AN you can get them in different colors I like the black. And the pump and filter are from jegs, I'm just waiting on my billet clamps so I can finish mounting the lines to the frame. I haven't made up my mind to go with braided or hard line from the pump to carb. I think stainless hard line would be the easiest and clean look..

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

Thanks,
I agree the hard lines do give a nicer look vs. the braided. Just looks better and shows you are paying attention to detail.
I'll be watching your build, keep up the good work.

I don't think it's too bad, I hope. In my opinion the cab is probably the hardest part of the build, I have learned so much from this site. Every one makes it look so easy and I know it's not. I need to stop whining and strip it down and see what I have to work with.

It's a two inch strap, about 80 feet long. They tie it between two trees and use it to balance on. It's normally used out side, but when it snowed and got cold my son got the idea to bring the fun indoors. We had the scrap metal, and I just got a new mig welder so what better way to practice. I'm not sure if this thing is for exercise or fun or both, I have tried it it's a lot of work.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

I started on the cab, the rocker panels are needing replaced and the lower corner where the fender bolts to the cab. But so far that's it. I also got my bed cross members all sanded and will get paint on them tomorrow.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

Started putting my oak bed together, got to make some modification's to the edge so the rail will fit better. I might router it even more so there is no gap in the rail and wood.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

Done some more routing and got the rails to fit snug against the wood. Now I have to slot the cross rails for bolt alignment, it's going to narrow the bed about 3/8 on each side. Has anyone done this to make the rails nice and clean and snug fit. The picture shows the first pass with router the second I just went deeper.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper

I routered the bottom edge so it would butt up to the end rail better, I'm very pleased the way it turned out.
