WHAT? You are so close and have done a great job thus far. Don't throw the towel in now.

I think he does some good work. He definitly seems to have a lot of experience and offers good advice. He does spell too good but hey...Maybe that's for comedy relief.

Re: 1969 New Addition

I think you have done an awesome job on this truck and if you get frustrated leave it alone for a couple of days and then you will get the urge to work on it again. You can burn yourself out on a job, but this one is so close that you can drive and enjoy.
Thanks for the kind words always willing to help but in this case you were right in the middle of your job as I went on vaca.

Thank you!
No frustration on my end. I was joking about giving up. Look at how far I came. Nothing left to finishing it.
The bed sure is nice isn't it?
Thanks for all your help!

Who guide coats and block sands a bed? Most people spray in bed liner. This bed looks as good or better than it did 5/23/69

Re: 1969 New Addition

Summer of 69 is moving to the front burner.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...16#post5325516

I have to do some home repairs first. My time has been very consumed on the "new addition". I need to keep the wife satisfied. So do some house repairs then get OCD on Summer of 69

Still in the rotation but just got knocked back a spot.
If you go thru the pictures you can see your truck in the background. I started your truck and did the frame then moved. I had a severe water problem in the garage that took me some time and determination to figure out. It was caused by condensation. The garage is built into a hill and is very cold in there. I solved it by heating it up with a coal stoker stove.

I just purchased a 1972 K10 that is disassembled. Probably paid too much for it and it is 2300 miles away. I am leaving in the morning to go get it.

I needed some practice before diving into your old truck because I took it apart 5 years ago and it is completely disassembled. The 69 new addition gave me a new perspective and was a relatively easy project.

This 1972 4x4 has me very excited. I want a 4x4 and this truck is going to be beautiful.

Here is a link to the truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322185494882...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It sold on eBay so the posting will probably come down sooner or later.

Cool slide show! From the pictures, your truck was super clean to start with.
Was that original paint? Super nice!

Thank you for the compliment on the slideshow. I never did one before. The music just got put in by my computer. Basically I just put the pictures into iPhoto and saved the file.

No not original paint. PO must have had some minor collision on passenger side. I noted and had to redo some body filler on hood. Truck was definitely repainted. Had that been original I would not have painted it.

I was very glad to get one that nice to start with. I thought it would be a scuff and shoot. Then I realized I had to deal with some rust. That led me to the realization that it really doesn't matter if you have to fix it you, you have to fix it. I remember my brother had a 1963 Corvette that he owned for 15 years that was very beautiful and a running car. It was probably an 8.5 out of 10. He tore it all apart and was going to do a frame off restoration. He bought many new parts and upgrades and ended up selling it in pieces a few years later. I always thought that his car was a poor candidate for a ground up restoration because it was beautiful. If you are going to do all that work you might just as well do it to one that is very aged and needs a total restoration instead of a beautiful as is classic.

Re: 1969 New Addition

I see it now. I wish I would have kept that one. it is hard to find them that rust free at that price. Good luck on the K10.

The K10 was a POS. I drove 2300 miles for a big disappointment. I would not however, come home empty handed. I ended up purchasing a 1970 GMC 2500 4x4 from an unknown board member.

Time will tell if that works out.

Re: 1969 New Addition

Wow that kinda sucks! I deleted a bunch of photos from my photo bucket account to make room. I didn't realize all the photo's here would be lost. Kind of stupid on my part. Oh well. If anyone wants to see pictures of this restoration there is a short 7 min youtube with all the pics. Here is the link.
