Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

Thanks bro! Obviously you figured out I meant to say axle flange to axle flange, meaning rear end of course.

Would you say that, ideally, the dimension between the inside sidewalls of the dual tires should be very near what the dimension was of the inside sidewalls of the single rear wheel tires of the C20? (hope that makes sense)

Or, expressed another way, whatever the difference in backspacing of the dually wheel and the SRW wheel, times two (for left + right)---That's how much wider I need my dually axle to be than the SRW axle.

I'm rear end shopping again, and I don't want it any wider than it absolutely has to be---but I don't want it to scuff the inner fender either. I'm going to look at a 78-ish dually rear this week. It should be fine, but hey, if you can't be anal about a rear end, what can you be anal about?

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

Haha pun intended right!! the inners on the dually rearend should be very close to what a standard single rear wheel would be. I will still get you she exact measurements. Something you should consider would be your braking situation. If you plan to swap to disc brakes on the rear there are some awesome and inexpensive kits for the dana 70. Plus parts are readily available at any parts house. Some of the older rear ends may be hard to find parts for.

Right!

I got over to the barn today. It looks like 69" is the number. I'm curious to see what your '91 dually Dana measures.

I do have some updates, I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow. I have been extremely busy with work and when I am at the shop I have been focusing all my time on the underhaulin project.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

I believe I read that at one time you were going to use 73-87 front suspension(if that was someone else's thread I apologize) Do you or any other board members know if the whole front suspension of of a 75-80s one ton van will work? Like off of a 19 passenger school bus (short bus)?

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

I think they will work with a few minor mods. Like widening some bolt holes. As far as what I am running: I have Porterbuilt arms with 85 1ton ball joints and 85" chassis tech 3" drop spindles.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

Unfortunately I need to try and sell Darcy. My family and I are about to move and we have had some set backs for the past month or so that has us behind financially. Its a sad day for me but life will go on.
