Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Man, if you call this a driver truck I'd like to see what you call show quality.

If my truck looked 1/2 that good you couldn't hit me in the rear with a ripe red apple!

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Was getting ready to put some red on the doors when it dawned on me I had never gone over the doors with the plexiglass sanding pads and powder guidecoat...so I grabbed my 1/4"-×12in plexiglass and some 220g..coated the door with the guidecoat..immediately it showed a high spot in the middle of the driver door...the durablock had been used on the door and this never showed up...so I switched to 180g and resanded the whole door..found a couple more slight lows that I'm sure high build will fill..
So I grabbed the pass door and repeated the process...no high spots but I found 2 slight low spots, 1 around the door key, the other at the bottom corner..so I hit those with 80g and put on some metalglaze...I'll get these all smoothed down...shootem with some epoxy and a couple coats of highbuild..then they'll be ready for some red..
That plexiglass sure is a difference maker in getting it smooth
And on top of the truck work, I found out today that I'm gonna be back on 12hr days 7days most every week for the rest of the year..

7-12s is rough! Good luck with that. The good news is the truck is looking great.

7 days... Dayum. You will need an apprentice to complete the truck. I am unemployed and jealous of your new schedule. SOO I will be heading your way to help out. HAHA!

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

And now the issues...I smoked thru the paint while buffing...so now I get to see if I can repaint these spots without painting the whole piece...if it doesnt work out I'll be painting the whole panels again..
Grill support and hood corner...seems like it's never gonna end..
