Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

That is what I told them to make it. I know it is not reading road speed. I talked to a local tuner and he said it most likely just needs a tune.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Talked to a place in Longview that does tuning. They sound like they know what they are doing. Good prices too. Should be able to go in a few weeks.

I bet the pulse generator isnt the same out put as a stock VSS. Or else you have it wired backwards?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I have wired it both ways. I think it is working better this way. Says 4 mph at 65 mph.

I got my check engine light installed and working today. Only have one code now. I had a code for knock sensor 2 bank 2 low voltage. Found my wires were pulled to tight. Rerouted wire and test drove a few times. No more codes other then crank relearn code.

maibe the sensor doesnt pick up all the pulses maibe you need to get it closer to the eeeh thoothed wheel that gives the signal

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Woohoo. Got a hold of a snap on solus scanner and ran the crank learn thing. Boy that is a fun test. You have to rev up tell fuel cut out it says. Well first try I bounced it off of rev limiter for a few seconds. Then the second time it went to 4000 then cut out and went to limiter again. And passed. So no more check engine light.

I don't worrie about them. They don't worrie about us. They all let there dogs run wild. We live out in the country so there is some room in between us. The people on the corner are the ones that probably don't like me when I take off out of my street.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

If you have a stock VSS on your transmission, just run the 2 wires straight to the ECM's VSS High and VSS Low pins. Your tuner will be able to program the tire size and VSS pulse per rev into the ECM. The ECM should be reading the speed correctly at that point, and will also have a 4K PPM output for your speedometer, and cruise control if equipped.

I do not have a vss in my 700r4. It is the old style. I wish it did.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Does your tailhousing have a speedo cable drive opening like this?

If it does you can swap out the cable drive housing for one of these:

Its a VSS/cable drive for a 1991 - 1993 Caprice 9C1, GM made and installed them so the cops could use cable driven radar units on the TBI cruisers.

You can still get them as Standard Motor part # SC55, or AC Delco 213201. Its a 40 pulse output.

There is also an inline 40 pulse VSS available from Jags that Run. You would need #3.

All of these options do not require the Dakota Digital box.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

doesnt it still be on the connection part of the trans to the the transferbox?

i've seen sumtin else a while back they use them on kitcars mostly its a metal plate with fins that fit between the knucklejoint and the rear diff and theres a small bracket that holds a hall sensor close to it , works verry accurately once its calibrated

cant find that perticulair one but found this one

if they made abs for youre model you might want to try to fit one of those sensors they basicly do the same thing but are made to fit youre car/truck of the shelf and are eazier to get replacement parts for

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Forgive me if this was covered, there are a lot of pages...

Couldn't you use a 90/91 NP241 transfer case from a Suburban/K5 that has an electronic VSS?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

You can but then you have to do something about the speedometer. A cable-x converter or switch to a 90-91 burb/blazer speedo/drac.
