Re: Father/Son 67 SWB project- Picture Heavy

Sub'd I'm building a 70 gmc with my 12 yr old son. He's like your boy excited about the truck but it's football season and we're spending all our spare time at practices and games, and not getting a thing done on the truck. I built a CJ5 with my dad in high school, I look back and it was the best time of my life. Still mad at him for selling it after I got married and went to college. Building a truck yourself gives you respect and pride for it plus you tend to take care of it since you put so much blood sweat and tears into it. Thanks being an example to us! I'm going to show my son this thread and maybe it will motivate him to work with me in the shop.

Pretry sure this has been harder on me then on my boy He is starting to come around a little but unfortunately he just doesn't have my passion for cars. I'm still trying to cope with that.

Re: Father/Son 67 SWB project- Picture Heavy

Man I gotta say this build and the father son aspect sure hits me in the heartstrings as being from the other end of it. I've now been in approximately 6 builds with my father 2 of which have been my personal 72 and his personal 73 that he learned to drive in and just got back this pst year to drive and fully build how he wants with my help. Between those two trucks I believe we've had about 3 billion mini family arguments leading to a couple months off on occasion from the truck but even with that said I still find one of the most satisfying things in life to be seeing him smile as his truck gets closer to being road worthy with every small update and part install on his old pickup. Not to plug my own builds but if you ever feel unmotivated go through mine and you'll see some great times at shows for pops and I. I know how your boy feels I was there many years ago and it's selfish reasons but they will subside I guarantee you sir. Keep Truckin

Mike,
I love what you're doing with your truck and especially with your son! I will have to pick your brain a little about the build.

My boys interest level has been down recently but I'm hoping he comes back around. If I can help with anything, I will.

Awesome. I am in the same boat as you. Working on a 67 ls swap c20 factory utility box converting to c10. Got most of the parts but he hasn't gotten motivated yet. He's 15 plan on having it driving mid summer. 52" of snow this week didn't help progress.

Re: Father/Son 67 SWB project- Picture Heavy

love the build thread. i acquired my first c-10 from my dad. sooo many nights spent with him teaching me all of the basics from valve adjustments to finally tearing it down to the bare frame and building it back up. with many months off in between. He'll come around and will appreciate it all when hes looking back on all of it.

great thread, any updates?
