Just went through this whole thread. Loving it so far. Great looking truck. The gold and white patina is awesome looking sitting on the ground.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Haven't done much of anything to the truck in the last few months, just been cruising it. The overheating issue was just a big air pocket, bled and burped the system and it's ice cold now. In this New England fall weather I'm not even needing to use my fan.

Going to take it out to shoot some photos of it later today but then it's back into the garage. Finally going to put the hood on and make some bed mounts. I need to see if the hood will clear the engine covers.

Bought a wilwood MC yesterday with the good deals AZ pro had going on, going to go with manual brakes. I don't like the gushy pedal that the booster is giving me. Gonna pull the motor and redo the body work on the firewall and likely paint it gold, BTR stage 4 cam, paint the engine black, maybe some new heads, put the height sensors on the air ride. A lot of work to do.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Tore the truck apart - making things a little tidier. First up was putting the floor back in the bed. Holy crap was this a lot of work. Capped off some 1.5" eighth wall box tubing with a plate with a hole and a grade 8 nut welded on the inside, built the frame around that, put plates on the ends with two holes to bolt to the bed side then painted it with chassis paint. The frame I built bolts into the stock location using half inch bolts - worked like a charm. The extra brace in the front is for the exhaust hangers to bolt to. Then I recessed the under side of the floor so it would fit snug on the frame, pressure washed and then undercoated it and flopped it in. The wheel tubs got cut down and patched up, undercoated as well and then I did a vinegar/hydrogen peroxide/salt mixture to make them rust a little. Color matches the carriage bolts and viola. A tip for anyone doing this... it's way easier to take one side of the bed off to get the floor in than it is to try to shoe horn the thing into place. It takes a few minutes longer but is so much easier.

Just need to cut the hole for the flush mount fuel filler and it'll be done. Now it's onto the fire wall. There are a few holes I want to shave and then give my best shot at actual body work instead of a tube of seam sealer and spray paint. I have an April 31st deadline for a show, a lot more work to do.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Nice to see an update. The raised steel floor looks great! Did you have to cut the lip off the edge of the steel floor to get it to slide up between the bedsides like that? When I did mine, I ended up moving the mounting flange up the sides of the bedsides like they are connected stock because I thought the bed floor wouldn't fit and I didn't want to cut off that lip. I'm thinking now maybe I could have done it this way afterall.

Nope, I had no issues with it. I would have liked to do that but it seemed like more work and I didn't want to put back in all the carriage bolts.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Got the motor freshened up. LQ4 with an LS6 intake, holley EFI fuel rails, AN-4 steamline fittings, F body water pump, low mount f body alternator, high mount F body power steering and dirty dingo spacers to maintain the truck crank pulley (which desperately needs to be painted or replaced). Still need to get a new set of valve covers - will likely end up with the small block script covers. Waiting on the power steering pulley and tensioner too. Nervous the orange and black will look weird with a gold firewall but we shall see. I wish I could have just kept the three piece vortec cover and avoided this whole expense but it didn't fit with the cover on. Oh well.

Before and after

Much better than a blue, don't ya think
Should be okay because the side markers and tail lights are orange and red and look fine against the gold - I figure the Chevy Orange is just kinda a blend of the two.

Of course not. 15x5 3.75BS and 15x10 4.5BS with 235/70/15 and 275/60/15.
They're wheel vintique wheels with diamonback classic wide whites.

I went back and fourth with running a big wheel or not, ultimately it came down to satisfying an itch I always had for white walls. Maybe I'll switch it up one day but I love this look.
