Just a thought but you could always throw a 203/205 doubler into the mix, and wind up with a truck that can do the low speed as well. Hell you could run 3.08 gears, then when you stuck it in 4 low on the 205, that would be like having a 5.97 geared rear end... And you would still have a lower gear than that with the doubler...

Thanks, but I dont have a use for that. This will probably see more higher speeds then anything else. And to top it off, I will rarely use the 4wd.

Is it normal to mount the seats to the cage? Seems like it would be more comfortable mounted to the cab floor so there is some cushion through the cab mounts. With htem bolted to the cage, and hence the frame, you'd feel every little bump and vibration. Or are there dampeners between the seats and cage?

I guess that is why the seats are called "Suspension Seats".......... Seriously, In offroad, you dont want anything but your suspension to flex, let alone rely on sheet metal to hold you in place. Even though the stock location is beefed up some, it will not hold up the high speed offroad abuse. By mounting the seats to the chassis/cage/frame, you gain a solid mount that will unlikely fail in the event of a barrel roll. Dont get me wrong, these are not those big comfy captain chairs like in the newer cars, because when you are haulin ass in the desert, you want your ass planted firm in the seat so you cant move. This is a typical mounting type for this type of application.

OK, That makes sense. Obviously not a lot of desert racing going on in my immediate area. Maybe we need a new class of off-road racing, something us midwestern guys could get into besides mudding. How about corn field races, or soy bean field racing. Plowed and un-plowed divisions.

On second thought, that would kinda suck. Mudding and wooded trails it is then.

1/8" plate to the frame then the tube to the plate. It's not done yet, but you can see the route I am going here........

Very nice work. This is the same set up I was gonna do to my '75 C10. Still havent decided if I want front a-arms or convert to 4x4 w/radius arms. But I would like to build a prerunner(of sorts). Great work.

Thanks!! To be honest with you, if you dont really need or want the 4wd, the a-arms are a way better suspension for wide open desert. If this Blazer was purchased as a 2wd, it would have center mounted a-arms without a question.

Not much done since these last few pics. I might get some things done this weekend. I have new fenderwells and patch panels for the bed area. In the pics, you can see the rusted areas by the rear fenders. Then I need to fab all of the harness mounts and finish the seat stuff.

It is moving slow. Got the rust cut out of the rear inner fender area and got the new fender wells mocked in place. Thats about it for the next few weeks. I will update when I get more done.
