With the 6 lug set up you're limited on your wheel selections. I like the stock steelies with or or without dog dish caps. I picked up a set for my 68, but have got em on yet.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Came to my senses, lost the big center caps, just did not fit the style of this truck. have made some more progress. Bought some cheap ass peeps and am regreting it. We will by some quality ones first chance we get. Wiring is slowly coming around. Got new bolts ordered for the hood latch and a few more underhood fastners. Getting there.

Different air cleaner. Radiator filler panels. License plate lamp and YOM plates. Just like a little bit and we are done. Shooting for being done by April.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Sending off all the paperwork for the YOM license plate Monday. Thought about restoring them but kind of dig the well worn look the plate is sporting. Wiring is done. Bought a rear license lamp assembly from Brothers and am very pleased with it. Getting there.

Bought a glovebox lamp assembly from one of the major parts suppliers.. Very poor quality. Broke it opening the package.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Just caught your build again, that's great you found another truck that is even better than the first one. I like your simple build style.
Wish we could find some trucks like that up here.

I ran the same intake on my Chevelle. Worked great but mine only fit Edelbrock carbs. The Holley carbs I had didn't clear when put facing forward and it wasn't designed for sideways mounting.

I am not only a cheap bastard, I am a lazy one as well. Polishing would take time from my other activities, such as sitting on my ass...

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Ok,, back working on the truck again.. Shooting for driving it in to work Friday. Tying up loose ends. Was six weeks waiting for my paperwork for the YOM plates. Finally got it. Trimming up a busted fan shroud, installing a fuel filter before the fuel pump,, you know, stuff you think about just out of the blue...

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Drove the turd in to work today. But of course, there were"""issues""". Last night, the thermostat stuck. No biggie, fixed that. Driving in, it gets hot and pukes water everwhere. As I am pulling into the parking lot, it dies. Open the hood, fuel EVERYWHERE,,, needle is stuck. Fixed that. While adding water to the radiator, I look at my original AC Delco radiator cap (by original, I mean 1968 vintage), not only is there no seal, there is no gasket. Changed that and now it doesn't seem to either puke coolant or run hot. Man, working at a parts store is the best...

It is what we call redneck Imron. Valspar implement paint with a little extra hardner.
