Re: Good start to a project...
Multi carb'd engines are just plain cool. whether it be a flathead ford, small block chevy or a straight 6. One of the prettiest engines out there IMO.

Thank you, I remember how much I enjoyed N2billets thread on his red truck, Lucy, with the super detailed six a few years back. Always wanted to do one since then.

Re: Good start to a project...
I would like to try, seems like carb tuning is becoming a lost art, I love having mine dialed in to show you don't need EFI to be dependable.
Be careful with what you wish for... I may just have to pay for you to come do it at my Elevation... Dan

Re: Good start to a project...
I'm of the same mind on that. There's no doubt that EFI is nice, but people act like these days that it is required to have a dependable or even efficient engine. I've seen guys spend thousands of dollars on EFI set-ups to get 1 or 2 MPG better than a properly carb'd tuned engine, and then drive the car/truck a 1000 - 2000 miles a year. At that rate (assuming it gets 2 MPG better @ 2000 miles per year) , it would around 45 years to pay for a $2000 EFI system -lol

Re: Good start to a project...
Yeah I am with you on that Chris... even with multi carbs I bet I can tinker with it enough to get it going if I had to... If you are getting Gas, Spark, and Air it should start...

Re: Good start to a project...
As promised, here are the throttle linkage pics, I'm thinking I'll end up making a new rod that runs from the pedal to the bellcrank, but this will work for a bit. The truck is running, just trying to work out a few small bugs (like my starter giving up), should be able to test drive it this week.

Re: Good start to a project...
I needed to take a break from the engine for a day, so yesterday I got my new wheel in and my $11 overstock.com seat cover in.

Oh yeah. You're getting close now. What are your plans for beyond this phase Chris?

Re: Good start to a project...
Well, I'm tired and burnt out, and the truck fund is empty, so I'll drive it this summer then this winter I'll bodywork the bed, and fill the sidemarkers, and have my buddy faux-tina the bed so it matches. Then I'll replace the open 4.11's for a posi with 3.42's and do a rocking, but hidden stereo system for those long road trips.

Re: Good start to a project...
well hopefully by the time the 2015 rolls around I will be close to firing it... I have alot of money to spend on it yet and it needs to go back to the body shop to have a little more rust repair done before I can really start rolling... I am hoping to get it to the body shop in the next week or so...

Re: Good start to a project...
Yes Dan, I'm still here! Well, kinda off and on. I've been crazy busy in all areas of my life recently, including being a home owner again. I purchased a nice little remodeled home in the old part of my town that was built in 1951, so that's been eating up a bunch of my time. I'm loving it though! I check in quickly on a regular basis but I must have missed this. I do have an update, as of last week the bed is done, metal worked, body worked, painted, and fauxtina'd to match the front. Huge thank you to dirtball for letting me invade his garage and destroy it. No totally finished pics yet, my garage is very small and the weather is refusing to cooperate. Sorry, this is what I have so far. I'll take you for a spin the next time you're out Dan!
