OK, I know it's not truly specific to our 60-66 trucks only, but it is a cool poster! Hangs proudly in my garage.

It's hard to know for sure either way. I would also expect yellowing, but if it was in the middle of a ream of paper and sitting in a drawer never exposed to light, it suppose it's possible to look like new. For the price being asked it's not much of a risk.

I sure do like the earlier versions with the "flying M", both the art deco style and the one that looks like my 1960 tailgate. The new square letters lack personality. I also agree that is a very cool poster!

Interesting! Is it possible 1960 was the only year GMC offered the V6 as an option on Canadian trucks? Or was it a special order option through out the '60-'66 era? Here is a 1961 GMC Canadian brochure, only shows the straight six and V8 as being available.

Re: 1960 -66 Truck literature, ads, post cards, books, posters, manuals

Nice brochure factorystock, that might be possible? Never seen a Canadian built '60 GMC with a V6 in it however. The few unrestored original 1960 Canadian built GMCs I have ever seen all had straight 6 engines in them. Any V6 trucks I have seen were all US built trucks. I am under the impression that the only way to get the V6 was to special order a US built truck & import it through a Canadian dealer. If the V6 was available in Canada for 1960 only it would be one rare truck to have I'd think.

Thought I'd also post a new addition to my collection here too!

Re: 1960 -66 Truck literature, ads, post cards, books, posters, manuals

I have been looking closely at these trucks for the last 30 or more years out here, and have never seen that V6 engine. Weird with the spark plugs on the inside of the cylinder heads instead of the outside. They all had straight 6s up here. Only a handful of original V8s that I have seen, and maybe 1 or 2 with the powerglide automatic. None with factory air, didn't even know what it looked like until seeing it in an American truck. No 327s here either, only 283s. Murphy98 and 60-66 have a lot of really cool advertising, signs, sales brochures, and clocks. I would love to tour both shops. This ad came from a 1965 LIFE magazine, and reminds me of growing up on a farm here. Some of it on the bottom of the page is missing, but most of it is there. Had an airbrush artist copy it onto my glovebox.

This one is a 1960 or 61. It has a V6 that hangs underneath like a 60 fender emblem

This one is from 1967

This last one is a 1966 Custom Features Accessory clock and sign. Its about 5 feet long in a nice wooden case.

Hey 60-66, nice collection I see you have the same Illuminated single sided GMC Trucks sign I have (9th pic down) Was yours always a single sided sign? I have seen those in a double sided version on Ebay in the past. I made mine up as I only found one of the plastic panels, no light box so I made up my own a couple weeks back. If yours is all original I think I did a pretty good job making mine look that way too!

WOW, that is an awesome collection you have there. My brain would be overheating walking around there, very impressive. It would be really cool to spend some time looking at your trucks and memorabilia. I have a small collection of GM stuff, the stuff just doesn't surface much around here. Here is some stuff I have collected. Up here the GMC trucks were called Maple Leaf trucks until 1937 or 38 from what research I have done. Then they changed to GMC. Maybe the war years had something to do with it. I have a friend around here with a 45 that says General Motors Truck on the chrome strip on the side of the hood. Not sure if that is Canadian or not. The yellow and blue cans are 30s or earlier.

Excellent thread!

I don't think anyone mentioned the online archive GM has? Great to dig through if you don't have the actual books.

Interesting history rustbucket66 . Been trying to find some Canadian GM GMC Signs myself. They just never surface down here. To date I have one Canadian GM Delco battery thermometer and a Neon parts clock but that's all I've found . Have another friend up in Canada searching for this stuff for himself and its just not out there . I like your collection !

Re: 1960 -66 Truck literature, ads, post cards, books, posters, manuals

Thanks very much 60-66, I love the GMC stuff too! Much harder to find than the Chevy Truck stuff it seems. I felt very lucky to find even one side of the GMC Trucks sign, hope to find more at a local Flea Market this Sat. I just bought an original 1960 Canadian GMC truck Sales brochure, waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Will post pics when it arrives. I really like collecting clocks & thermometers related to all GM brands, lots of cool advertising stuff back in the day.

Re: 1960 -66 Truck literature, ads, post cards, books, posters, manuals

Here is a parts accessories book from the 40s. Note the Maple Leaf trucks listed on the back. A few of the parts lists in it were for the Maple Leaf trucks but none listed anything past 1937. I'm thinking the Maple Leaf truck line must have been dropped around that time. I also have a friend here with a 45 truck that says General Motors Truck on the chrome strip on the side of the hood. Not sure if that is Canadian or not. The 3rd pic is open to one of the pages inside.

The green and orange are from our period trucks. I have a few of them. The yellow cans are 40-50's and the white cans are late 60's -70's +
