Seems pretty simple seems to me. You have to sell it when it's finished. Fine.
That can take a looooong time.

Hang in there Chad... hope you can keep it.

Make momma happy and then see where things stand. It's all about compromise.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Talked to the wife about the whole truck thing. Here's the plan.

We are both 39, no children. I will be 40 on April 5. It's time for some little ones. As some of you know, I have been into cycling for years, Triathlon, etc. Let's just say I think I may have damaged something. Even as a kid, I was into 'freestyle' and BMX, raced Mtn bikes for a while .. I've spent a lot of time in uncomfortable situations.

The problem is me, (confirmed) so we're looking into Invitro. IVF, it's not the cheapest thing in the world so instead of draining the savings and what not.. I am going to finish up the GMC and sell it. It will suck, but .. maybe on the Power Tour or something just hang a sign in the window that it is for sale.

I made her a promise. IF things don't happen like they should before June 1, then we will commit to IVF and all costs involved. If for some reason it does happen then .. well..

Bottom line, I have another truck. If the GMC goes to a new home, then the stepper becomes a fleetside, and some new shoes. I will finish up the paint on it and just enjoy that one. Nothing wrong with a 68 SWB, BBC. Possibly 20x12, Aluminum heads, bagged, just a street bruiser. Slick with side trim, etc. (reason to go to fleetside)

All is not lost... but I do hate the GMC will likely have to go. Two trucks is a lot to ask from the wife and I am being a little unreasonable about it so, she's cool with one truck and a new baby I can do that.

I talked to Stiney the other day and I will be ordering my front wheels next Friday. The weather is clearing up in Chattanooga so I can finish up painting the bedsides (inside) and get the bed back on it. Then it's brake lines, finish up the interior and send it on it's way. It will be a se*y little SWB, no doubt.

Later ..

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Sound like a fair compromise to me. Y'all end up with a little one and you still end up with a nice ride.

I hate to hear that the stepper would become a fleet. Back when you were helping me look for mine I originally wanted a fleet but as I looked around I really started to want a step. Well, we know what I ended up with. I kinda wish it woulda been a step.

Anywho, congrats on the negotiation.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Doing what I can, .. But, either way I still have one truck so Im good with that. I just bought the GMc because of what it is and what I got it for. Initially I though maybe just some wheels and a drop but I got carried away. Im just going to enjoy it with Pops on the HRPT and sell it.

Keith Ill reach out to you around June and let you know. You could fly in and drive this one home. It runs like a sewing machine.

Good luck chad in all you do. Having Kids is the biggest blessing and the biggest heartache at times but I would not change it for the world.

For me just having the one truck is plenty and because of my lifestyle sometimes the truck sits for months at a time.

I can fix you up with a stepside bed. I'd even work a trade with you if you want, and deliver / come pick it up. I appreciate the kind words brother. It means a lot. I'm not really 'losing' anything but you kinda get attached to these old cars / trucks. I just hate to see it go.

I am a huge fan of the 67-68 side trim. That and the fact you can absolutely stuff some huge tires under a fleetside.. I'm just thinking out loud really but I am keeping my eyes open for a fleet bed.

I really love kids man. I can't even express how much. It's not that I don't want kids, it's just losing your truck over the fact as a guy, I seem to have issues I can't really control (??) I just have to deal with it and move on. It's common in distance cyclists. At one point in my life I was riding close to 7k miles a year.

Thank you man. I hope things in the North East are getting back to normal for you guys too. It's odd how life deals you issues, the only thing you can do is just press on. My truck is a drop in the bucket compared to what you've been through.

I'd cut off my arm for a child right now. No questions asked. (Not to save my truck .. just cause I like kids )

Yeah, I am having trouble finding time for one, much less two. I am just going to finish it up and enjoy it for a couple weeks and let it go.

I honestly don't know what to ask for it. Will you guys PM me some opinions please? I'm asking, you're not going to hurt my feelings. All except you Keith !!

I think in the long run you won't regret your decision.

Keep at it, enjoy the time while you own it and then let her fly.
