It is mainly high desert between here and Dave over in Pocatello about 275-300 miles east. Best seen at a fast rate of speed, or at night!!!!
Behind those mountains is Big Bear, and Lake Arrowhead. We are high desert also @ 3400 feet

Thanks Dave. It was so windy that the blades of the windmill are breaking off. And the tail is already laying on the ground. It's a piece of $hit from China. Looks good from a distance though.

Re: Daverods project 66

make one youreself then , seen an windmill for electric a while back that used flyweights to take out pitch of the blades when the wind picked up preventing overspeeding
it worked the same way as a steammachine regulator it was about 3 to 4 foot across , he made his own altenator for it out of an electric motor and some magnets
for water i seen them use a caraxle with welded internals and a worm in a pipe to pull up water

Re: Daverods project 66

Oh... I meant you could work on them on the day assigned to them .... I did not know they would ever be driven again. That saves on license fees and insurance.
It has been 10 months since my truck left the driveway.. Sad but true.......... I started it yesterday!!! Then I went junk yard shopping today.. Found a 77 Nova with a 250 I6 that donated parts to the project. It is time to get motivated again!!!!
Found a Jimmy with a gas tank That I will go back Saturday and remove. Has a skid plate so It may be a pain to remove. I also found a I-6 HEI in the Nova that I should have gotten, Hope it still there..

Re: Daverods project 66

Ordered a HEI today. Got my cherry bombs on. Went with 18" bombs. For now they are just hooked up to the headers. Its frickin loud. What? Still waiting on my x pipe. Been burning around close to home pissing the folks off. The pin fell out of my clutch linkage so I had to limp home in 3rd. It was a easy fix. Once I got the wire to my choke hooked up the carb runs good. Just taped into the lighter for power. My 100 lbs bumper was a good thing I'm going to have to put some weight in the back, maybe its just all the sand on the road. Had a hard time hooking up,. Fixed all my leaks, it was a good day. Sledding tomorrow.

Re: Daverods project 66

Put my x pipe into my headers. Hooked up my cherry bombs, a few bent pieces of pipe from auto zone and I'm almost ready to weld it all together. I just have them both coming out in front of the rear wheel on the driver side. At first I was worried it was going to be too loud. It's just right. X pipe really smoothed things out. Still waiting on my hei. Had a few nice days put some miles on my truck. Got crazy sleding this weekend flew off the trail, down a cliff and hung my sled in a tree by the mountain bar. Fun time More snow coming. Sucks for trucking good for sledding.

Nice job Dave. It looks like the tail pipes will be coming out together on one side.

Re: Daverods project 66

That seemed to be the easy way. And the cheap way. Did'nt feel like giving the muffler shop $350. I think I'm into the exhaust about 150. x pipe 30, bombs 60 , pipe50, hangers.

Re: Daverods project 66

Just got my hei. I'll get everything welded up tonight and do a sound clip tomorrow. Guy in a brown truck dropped off my rubber floor mat, felt, chrome thresholds and rubber seals for the doors. I've got a big weekend. Better stock up on supplies. That's a big fricken dizzy.
