I'm going to check with Fastenal and see what their prices are.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

So I checked with Fastenal about shipping. For the quote, I used a seat that I had recently shipped to Alabama using FedEx. And the pic shows how the seat looks packed up to ship.
Fedex was $205.00. Fully insured. 3-5 days delivery.

Fastenal quote was $150.
It will take a little more on my end to use Fastenal. I don't have a local store, but the nearest is 25 miles. And to be insured, the seat needs to be on a pallet.
The only draw bag I can see using Fastenal, is the delivering time. There's really do guarantees on delivery time. The plus side, it is a bit cheaper!!!

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Thanks for checking. It may be a little while before I can work with the seat but always looking ahead. I have a decent bench seat now in that it works and it's not in to terrible condition. However, it's green vinyl and it doesn't fold forward so it isn't color matched to anything else in the truck and I need access to the small space behind the seat. I will be looking to get one that folds forward to replace the one I have.

Also picked a seat from a donor truck. It will be stripped down for restoration. Best part, was it was only 10 mins away and $20!!! I was happy about that.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Sold the Black Vinyl Deluxe bench with New Foam to a local person, for his 86 GMC. He came up this weekend and we swapped the new seat in the truck. I took the old seat for a core, to be restored.

Have you ever made any videos on your process, tips and tricks on sewing etc. I,m getting a little better on my sewing but always looking at better methods.

The only video I made was for the GTO Bucket seat tracks. They were so rusty and seized up. The video was after restoration of how easily they slid. I couldn't figure out how to post videos.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Went to a Swap Meet Friday, and came home with 8 benches, for restoration. And 3 new foams, for the seat bottoms, 81-87. I meet USA1 Industries there for my seat foam.

Also stopped at Summit Racing, the Tallmadge Ohio Store. We drive right by it when going to the Swap Meet.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

How do you recommend material type? For example, is one more durable and more comfortable for a proposed daily driver? I'm sure location plays a part. Probably wouldn't want black vinyl in Arizona for a daily LOL. I realllllllly like that brown tweed bench..Do any customers send pics back to you of the installed seats to see how they mesh color wise?

I don't recommend material type, people tell me what they want. Personally I prefer the Velour. The Tweed is nice, the color is actually Mahogany. They did send a pic after it was installed. And the 2nd pic is my seat, Charcoal.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Saved some more seats from being trashed or crushed. Got a couple of 77-80 seats. One seat, in pic #3 & #4, is a 1967-1968 bench. Already have them stripped down and off to sandblasting.
