Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Well, I gonna try and pick up some more brakeline today at my buddy speed-shop (RoyalBrass is closed today) and finish it up on Sunday.

Otherwise, I'll just drop in the engine, because the crossmember line is done.

The other line can be done with the engine in

The wagon just need the TH350 put back into it. It's a long story behind that wagon. My father-n-law gave us that wagon....it had a 14to1, all roller, dual-quad, NOS injected, race 350 in it with 100 miles on it (all his cars just sit and rot).....We pulled that out and installed a BRAND NEW ZZ4 crate engine in it. (alot more practical for the Starbucks and Grocery runs) The tranny always had a small leak, which got bigger and bigger. When I first fired it up, it was leaking like crazy out of the cooler line. Turns out the tranny case had split cracks at the cooler ports...Since then, I had them welded up, and its been on the back-burner for years. The tranny is ready to go back in..as well as a brand NEW Painless kit for it (the og wiring is way brittle) Anyway, thats the story on the wagon...NOW BACK TO THE "CHIEF".....

Thumbs up Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

The last few pics brings back memories when I installed my 350sbc in my '62. Tightening the bolts on the towers to the frame, and the 1 bolt through the tower into the rubber mount was a nightmare with hugger headers with the engine in the engine bay. lol

Good times, especially when you spend it with family & friends working on your truck. Looks good Chief, keep the updates coming!!

Here's a shot of my new starter. Sometime ago I posted a question here regarding replacing the old-style 3-bolt flange starter with a standard block mounted started.

Someone here told me it wouldn't work....??

Well, here it is....

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

I thought this was weird how GM mounted the 3-speed in this truck...it's hung by the belhousing, and nothing in the tailend....it actualy supports the load better, as the tranny is so light.

This will have to be changed eventually...due to the fact that this bell-housing x-member hangs below the frame.....definately don't want that.....this will prevent me form laying frame in the future...

In the future, a new e-brake/tranny x-member will be made up.

Pics...

If you are going to scrap that low hanging crossmember, it looks like you could just build a crossmember for the rear, and use a later style trans mount.
