Re: Project "Jezebel"
Next was the pass drip rail but that process was the same as the drivers side so I wont boar you guys with that.
I am happy to say that with the drip rails done I have met a milestone in this build. Jezebel's rust repairs are COMPLETE! Whoohoo! Now on to the fun stuff. First in line was the dash. I wanted to remove the ash tray and relocate the stereo. My plans are to one day install a flip-up screen stereo. I don't think, in the stock location the screen will deploy completely vertical. It looks like the screen would hit the dash pad. To fix this perceived issue, I cut out the stock stereo opening then flipped it over and welded it lower in the dash where the ashtray use to be. This should allow the screen to fully deploy. Cut area marked Entire area cut out. Stereo opening flipped and welded in at the ashtray location Completely welded in Welds ground down and ready for body work

Re: Project "Jezebel"
The next task was to remove the dash speaker grill. This will smooth the section of the dash between the defrost vents and should look pretty cool.

Re: Project "Jezebel"
Next was the gas cap filler. Pretty standard stuff, a concave circle, weld and grind smooth.
The purpose of this pic was to show that the circle was concave and not just a flat piece. This does not show it too well.

Re: Project "Jezebel"
Thanks guys. It is a labor of love as you all already know. I had hoped to get Jezebel done by October but that is in doubt now since I got a new job at work that is costing me my truck work hours. But hey, it pays the bills right?

Re: Project "Jezebel"
Time for another update.
Started filling holes and bodyworking the firewall. Going for the minimalist/smooth look. Starting to look pretty decent if I can say so myself.

Re: Project "Jezebel"
Next I need to find a place for my fuse block since I removed it from the firewall. I decided to put it in the void behind the seat where the gas filler was located. To make this work I need to fab a panel with a door that when opened would expose the fuse block. I'm not finished with it and I have not made up my mind exactly how I am going to route my wires but I will enclose pics when I get it figured out. I have a couple options, just waiting to see which one works best.

Re: Project "Jezebel"
This was a nasty mess of a task (the initial stripping part). I needed to remove 40 years of road gunk and old undercoating from the bottom of the cab. I tried everything from chemical strippers to paint scrapers. I found the best tool by far is a wire wheel on a 4 1/2 grinder. You need the heavy duty twisted wire ones. Be careful though, if you hit yourself it will rip your skin off down to the meat. I was lucky not to have a run in with it but be careful all the same.
This was dusty and nasty but it took off the old gunk down to shiny metal. I then bodyworked the weld seams where I replaced the floor portions and then shot on a good coat of etch primer. The last task was to coat the entire bottom with truck bed liner. I used Al's liner, I was skeptical at first that a DIY kit wouldn't provide enough texture but I was pleasantly surprised. I used the entire gallon on the underside of the cab so I could get a nice thick layer that would seal out the elements. I will use the same on the underside of the bed when I get to that stage. Lifting the cab with my cherrypicker helped me cover the entire cab floor. Otherwise I could not get the gun low enough to obtain complete coverage where the cab corner wraps around the back of the cab.

Re: Project "Jezebel"
GREAT job!!! I really appreciate the symmetry... We completely shaved mine and angled the driprail so it's one level all the way across...haven't seen anyone do exactly what you did and I like it a lot!
Keep up the good work
