worked on some wiring. Then used the tailgate for a workbench while I painted the new fence. Still looking for a rear end for the ol' workhorse/toy...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Today I bought some 72 sport mirrors, new tail light and reverse lenses from good ole' Bill at vintage chevy in fremont ca, and dropped them off with the paint shop. While at Bill's shop I learned that he is also a distributor for Larry's seat covers, and gets really nice discounts
They already have the interior prepped for paint! I was amazed, I just dropped her off tuesday @4pm so they started ripping into it yesterday and today! wow!
they also tackled a lot of body work on the exterior.... the burb is gonna look sick!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

i got another big box from the truck shop.....

inside and outside door handles, vent window handles, vent window rubbers, upper and lower tailgate gaskets. the two (non a/c) vent hoses are on back order. this order also included a 3/8" stainless pump to carb fuel line so i got that and my pep boys fuel pump mounted to the 307 in my 72 burb 2wd, 3/4 ton so i don't have to use the 5/16" fuel line and adapter for my 4 barrel swap. i just realized that the truck has a hose going to the tank instead of the factory hard line. the hose went onto the new pump super easy so no problems there.

just need to hook up the vacuum gage and make sure the number 1 plug is at tdc and adjust the distributor accordingly before i try and start it up again. last weekend i blew out the back end of a perfectly good muffler because i had the power lead on the negative terminal on the coil (ooops) and it built up unburned gas in the exhaust. i've had backfires in my bike that sounded like a shotgun.......well, this sounded like a revolutionary war cannon going off and both my dad and i thought we were dead for a good moment. i was hoping to get a couple more years out of the dinky stock style exhaust and then shell out some mula for one of those stainless x-pipe magnaflow systems

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Last night I put the hood and tailgate on, waxed it, and polished the wheels, I finished up at 1:00 AM so I guess it was today...

Today I got up at 4:30 AM and took it to its first show, I just got home to get the kids up and head back.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Yesterday I test fitted my A/C compressor from Vintage Air. This weekend I will paint the brackets and pulleys. I also put in a PCV valve and hose to the carb.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Put some gas in it this morning and drove it to work, put it up in the air (working at a dealership has it's advantages) and did a lof. Did a quick hand polish on the wheels to try to get rid of some rust spots developing. Then I gave it a bath with the shop's built in pressure washer. Hoping the weather keeps getting better so I can get to installing the stack of parts I have for it over.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Worked a little more on the water pump install... waiting on a new upper/lower thermostat housing to arrive, and then we'll begin the install.

Cleaned up some of the motor while I was in there tinkering. Used Simple Green, and got rid of some gunk and junk.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished the underhood wiring on my LS swap

Finished the radiator, fan shroud, heater and radiator hoses.

Couldn't get my transmission lines to work so I cut them and will be using AN fittings with braided hose for about 8-10 inches at the transmission.

Vacuum booster vacuum hooked up (LS is 1/2 inch and old booster is 3/8ths).

One or two good saturdays and I may get to hear it run and then to the exhaust shop!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well I didn't do anything to the 67 or 72 today. But my son and I did go look at a 70 GMC Suburban today. It's a parts rig, 3/4 ton, was a BB 4 speed, with roof air. 402 is gone and now residing in a very slick 71 stepside with Buddy buckets and tach dash! But the burb will be sitting in my yard after I go pick it up next week! He bought it for a very good price for what's there.
