Worst part of the car culture is how everyone thinks they invented it. You'll enjoy the c10 community much much more.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Looks good! Here's an idea for you.. keep what you have and just add some holley coil covers, painted to resemble the sbc script covers, but a big block size. Here's what mine looks like now.

The motor turned out very clean. I'm sure it will look great under the hood.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

More progress. Finished shaving the firewall - there were still a few small holes I needed to weld up, also added three holes in the center, two for the coils and one for the main harness. I also put some body filler on it to get it laser straight as before i just seam sealed it and called it good. Had a buddy come and shoot some PPG 23048 which is the anniversay gold. It matches real well. Took 7 coats to cover though as it's a very translucent paint. Got the motor back in with some small block valve cover adapters. Got a PSI harness to replace the OEM one I had and she's back to running 3 months later. Instead of running pigtails off the coil park harness I unpinned the plug, unloomed the harness, pulled it all back before the firewall grommet, added a ground and repinned everything. That way I don't have a wire going out of the cab just to come back in. I used ICT coil mounts and put them underneath the rain tray and siliconed the holes from the top side. Made the wires to length using some ceramic boots and high temp wires. Had to move the alternator from the lower driverside position to upper passenger side because it hit the steering rack. Finally got around to mounting the hood with the porterbuilt hinges. Still need to do a few small brake lines, bleed the MC and brakes, adjust the shift column linkage (doesn't go lower than drive currently) and some other small things like figure out coolant hoses. It's the little things that slow you down.

I really love how clean the engine bay is - for now atleast. I desperately want to get some Hills inner fenders and I want to make a cover for the chassis wiring on the drivers side. I'll also get around to splitting the alternator and having the casing powder coated black. It looks like crap with the OEM silver.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Thanks everyone - feeling pretty happy with it. Just wish i didn't have to cover up the frame and engine bay with a crusty body hah. No plans to paint it for now at least.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Amazing build. Read the entire thing and has me antsy to work on my 68 as well. I come from open desert off-roading so this "low-life" C10 scene is completely alien to me but already loving it.

Re: C10 Goldilocks

Well the old 4L80e had a bad hydraulic pump so out with the old in with the new. Luckily I had a warranty on it so it only cost me my time. Had the valve covers re done with powder coat and hand painted letters. Got the alternator split and powder coated black and then reassembled. Turned lemons into lemonade! Also put some new carpet in the interior along with some sound deading - makes it feel 100x better than a raw floor.

Finished getting it back in and reassembling everything and took it out to my surprise without any hiccups. Went for a test ride and ended up an hour away in another state at a random show.

Been just cruising it around since then. Went to a local show with a friend and his NNBS and I won best truck. Feels good after the long journey here.

Going to knock out little things now like put some new door locks in it and hopefully some audio by the end of the year. All though I don't mind hearing the LS breathe

I think this winter I want to build a custom set of headers with a 3" V band stainless exhaust with an X pipe. I don't love the headers I have now and want to have easy access to the plugs and wires since I relocated the coils.
