Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Yeah, Im a big mustang fan but I picked this thing up cheap and I love it!! I'm going to address some issues with it first before I start the swap, but I'm definitely going to do a build thread. This is going to be my fledgling fabrication, so I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of questions and problems along the way lol.

Thought about building the roterator myself but these guys have a nice design and my time is very limited. I'd rather get the car done!

I agree. You can pay in time or you can pay in money. Money is faster. Mine seems to go REALLY FAST!

Maybe I missed it... I thought this was going to be a patina sleeper? Are you going full on body and paint now? Again, I do try to read most posts... but we're up to 65 pages now!

It'll still be a sleeper, just with a little nicer paint Yeh, I decided that the oppertunity to do full paint while it's apart will not present itself again easily. Stickin with the current colors trim and all.

Special delivery from Accessible Systems

There are four built-in jack points of square tube; one at each corner of the car. I made adapters to tie in to them and secure with bumper bolts.

...and the money shots:

This is gonna be like cheating

Even the family digs it:

...art shot:

I couldn't be happier with the new rotissifier so far. It lifts the car right off jack stands with ease via the hydraulic rams and balances perfectly with infinite adjustment via the lead-screw and slide/clamp design.

You'll never work on another car again without one. On my first resto I had to blocksand and wetsand the inside of a '65 C10 cab while it was mounted to the cab, headliner and all. What a backache! With the last one on a rotisserie I could rotate it and do all the sanding standing up with the surface at a comfortable height. They're def one of the top 5 tools to have for bodywork!

Whew! You had me scared for a moment there. Knowing your ADD, I was worried that you would have to powder coat the rotissery first! Maybe later?

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

hmmmmm making it the top end of add he could just polish it by hand with ever finer sandingpaper untill it looks like chrome , think you need to be a realy bad ADD sufferer to do it that way

in the netherlands there where verry old (about the year 1600) working sailboats hauling grain turf sand and stuff like that on inland waterways , these boats had a steel ruddertill and it was the job of the skipper to polish this till every morning with wet sand and give it a coat of linseed oil keep it from rusting , it made them look realy nice untill they stopped and they got red and crusty

It's unbelievable the difference it makes. The quality of work can only improve with this kind of access and ergonomics.

Always insightful

Looking into it. But I honestly don't think the car will benefit from it. The front leaf hangers (now link hangers) attach to a lateral structure which ties into beefy rocker structures which tie into several points including the front frame rails. The Camaros front hangers seem to be tied into basically sheetmetal. They also suffer from the front subframe 'walking,' which is one of the motivations for the connectors. This car has excellent torsional rigidity from what I've seen on jack stands and during the debug runs on the street.

Still, they're not fully ruled out yet.

I'm all for loaning the thing out between projects. You might have to get in line though...
