Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

For some reason I am not getting updates on this to my email... Sorry about the delay, I "think" I fixed the problem, we will see...

Tips on installing, how about Videos from Ben.
This is the install Videos for the 73-87 kits in a pickup.

Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: Step 7:
Most of this will apply short of the non roller section, but seriously you shouldn't have trouble. Just be patient and read the instructions completely first then start on it. Install the glass BEFORE painting the doors!

That roller added plus the guide on the glass is shorter and the top roller is adjustable. You can get the updated pieces, but you basically would be getting a new kit. You can't get the brackets off the glass, so you need new glass. Most of the changes to this kit were due to the changes required on the 67-72 kit, they use the same bracket on the glass.

BTW, the truck looks AWESOME!

on second thought let me just mail out the doors and kit to you then shippem back all finished!

smart @ss!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

thanks for all the comments guys!

i'm waiting on the firewall grommet so i can drill the hole and get the ecm and everything into the cab. been sanding and disassembling the column to have painted. next on the buying list is a new steering shaft and gauges. i'm going with the autometer ultra-lite II's. then its on to the wiring!! can wait til she fires up with the key

after that its onto the brakes, driveshaft, shift cable(?), and exhaust

Cant wait till she runs buddy! You not wanting to run the Lokar shift linkage? Just curious because I saw the question mark in tour last post. Mine works great! Same as PCMcobra used too.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

I've used Lokar stuff on a bunch of vehicles. I have their parking brake system on my '79 CJ-5/Currie 9" w/ the Explorer style rear disc/drum set up, and their stuff worked perfectly with that system. Great quality and pretty good prices.

And, Dennis, your truck is lookin' absolutely bad a$$!!!
