Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I didn't get to post these last night, but I have now cavity waxed all of the rocker innards. It is an Eastwood product that you just hose everywhere you can that may or may not have any paint. The hard to reach wand is the best because you can snake it anywhere and the tip makes it squirt forward and out the sides in a 360 degree pattern. I ran it up in the factory hole on the front of the rockers and drilled a couple of holes in the rear most areas of the inner rockers. I hosed it up, down, and all around and had the wax pouring out all the drain holes. It will firm up in a day, but still be somewhat flexible.

Thanks for taking the time to read it all, I know I read all of the other builds before I was inspired to tackle mine. Its the circle of life, man.

Good idea. Too bad they didn't do something like that when they were new.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I thought I was about ready to paint the cab, but we had a missionary family show up yesterday and it will be too toxic for them upstairs. I'll have to wait til they leave Monday.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

One day down, still on schedule! I'll flip this door over tomorrow, tape off the white areas, and paint it with the cab that is prepped and waiting. If that all goes well and the creek don't rise, the next day I can unmask and remask for the white areas and shoot them all before Friday. Friday is already totally booked with work and Friday night football - Go Bubby!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Day 2 and still kinda sorta on schedule. Blue is on, but runs on the drivers rocker and a few specks of trash on the door. I think if I let it dry overnight I could wet-sand in the morning and hit it with one quick pass. Then maybe by tomorrow night I could un-tape and re-tape like planned for the white spray.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Looking good! Is there some reason why you didn't spray white where it generally would be and then tape off like it is taped off now? Just seems like it would be less taping and less to cover/faster doing it that way...but I've never dealt with two tone so I dunno

Either one you paint first doesn't really matter. I could have not bothered with taping up the primer where the other color goes, but then I would have had to wet-sand all those areas again to slick them up for the second color paint. I was about to do that out of laziness until my smart helper Gnande advised me that no more sanding would be needed if I covered it up twice. Does that make sense? I will hit the tape line with 600 very carefully to have less of an edge when I un-tape this first go round

Gotcha...just thinking you have a lot more to tape off now than if you did it the opposite way

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

OK, I got out the runs and trash and re-shot it and it looks great! I just hope it dries quick enough for tonight's painting plan.

Paint cans are pictured way back in the blog, but it is just single stage Nason brand.
