Hey Al is Sylvester sporting the rear bag top mounting hats or did you drill and mount the rear bags to the frame?

Hi shawno
Yes the bags have the mounting hats on the top against the frame and are bolted at the bottom directly to the square tubing trailing arms

The ride height is right at 28 inches I am sure I could go maybe an inch lower but I drive it at 28

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Chad if I remember correctly he has the original wide 71 housing. I think his tires are really close to the fender lip but still work for him. I remember seeing pictures and discussions of it earlier in the thread.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Just wondering how mine would sit in comparison
My rear wheels are 6" backspacing on a wide housing. I may have to space them out a tad but maybe 3/8 or 1/2 is not a big deal.

I have the 71 rear end. When aired out the iner outer part of the tub sits on the wheel. There is a mod I have to do that Keint (n2billet) did on his truck named Lucy. I will do it once I get ready to repaint the truck. All I would gain is about 3/4 of an inch lower so no big deal for me to rush on getting it done.

It will be about an inch in nmore than mine...It will look good however if you are just using springs the truck wont be low enough to tuck.

"Here are some picts of the mod that I will have to do. Justin from Scotts hot rods and I had spoken about him making these for me then we will weld them in..

Here is a picture of my the rear wheel I really like how it is all to the way to the edge.. I guess I got used to it as it used to bother me..

I would swap to the narrower rear housing (67-69) waaaaay before I would do any welding on your beautiful truck.
Just my 2 cents,...
