Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Thanks y5mgisi!!
I picked it up for 2500 (pretty good deal I think) lots of plans for it blah blah blah, similar color scheme to yours I think? I think I am going to paint it back same colors only use tinted primer for the "cost effective" satin look??

I love the two tone brown and buckskin! Forget flat black, that just looks classy. That's my two cents

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

I'm now the owner of this '85 Silverado. I was quite please with the condition that this truck is still in. I'm looking forward to cleaning it up and restoring it to my standards over the next year. This forum has already been a great help on gaining information and data!

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

cscttmllr that sir is one of the most beautiful trucks I've seen! I LOVE flatbeds but haven't seen many that look good with the single wheels in the back. Is that a homemade flatbed or did you buy it for the truck? Again, killer truck man!

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Miller92, I understand it was a flatbed for a dually but my neighbor (whom I bought it from) cut it down to fit a single axle. If you look you can see where it is slightly bowed from front to back where it got too hot when he was cutting it with a torch. And thanks for the compliments!

I had been trying to buy it since I first saw it when he moved in down the road. Finally talked him out of it and REALLY love the old truck.

And Your41Plague12, sorry there was some confusion. I did not mean I wanted to paint it flat back. Wanted to paint it flat brown and buckskin. Wouldn't make much sense to put a nice paint job on a truck that stays in the woods. Figured I'd get primer tinted to match original colors then just touch it up as needed??? That's the plan for now??

Yeah I was extremely surprised with the condition of the body and frame of this find. Original paint too! There is only one trouble spot I found on the truck. I'm hoping to repaint in the spring. The owner said its been in his family since he was 15. Swore that it always took priority in the garage and I believe him! He just dropped a new SB 350 aprox 14K miles ago that runs great. Seems the timing is setup for a more economical setting which I'm ok with for now since it is my daily driver.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Not a good one but here's an update on mine... Electrical fire burned pretty much everything and I was stranded 2 and a half hours from home... Have almost everything we need to get it going again, mainly just need a wiring harness now.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Could have been all them dry pine needles that caused the fire!

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

lol no it was clean when the fire happened. I drove from Houston to Ft. Worth for a wedding and this happened on my way back. I had put bout 600 miles on it in 3 days. The pine needles are cause its been sitting under our big trees for 2 months now.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

I'll throw in a couple of pictures of my 79 K20.

Couple months ago with my old 35x12.50's

Current state with 285 BFG's, think I'm gonna dig out my old stock wheels and bow tie hubcabs and swap them over this weekend. I don't like the looks of the black wheels.

Here is my 76 silverado. It is a big ten with a 454. All original but it needs a paint job and the chrome bumpers put back on.
