Way too advance for me.
Lets see if I can help your Forrest Gump.

Bare Metal - Protect with epoxy primer. You can do your filler work first and epoxy or you can epoxy first and do your filler work on top of the epoxy primer. When sanding you may get some exposed metal if you are doing filler over epoxy. Just hit those bare metal spots with more epoxy.

After Epoxy and filler work - This is when you spray your 2k primer, High fill primer, or in my case Slicksand. This is the primer that you use for build so that you can blocksand and get the panel straight and ready for color. This is much harder than it sounds if you are shooting for perfection.lol

After 2k primer, high fill, or slicksand - You continue to block this primer out to 400 to 600 grit depending on the color choice or if you are using a sealer. A sealer in my case epoxy primer that is reduced to put uniformed canvas for paint. The lighter or more translucence the color may make you want to block to 600, also a light metallic you may want to block to 600. If you are using a sealer over 400 grit you may be good to go with color.

Now you are ready for color.

I love the smoothed out seams. I did the same with my cab and it looks great.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Not for beginners, but in a production environment, especially if you're spraying sealer, 320 on a DA is a fine finish for most paints. This has to be approached with skill and caution, (cause you can do all kinds of damage to your bodywork) but lots of shops do it. 320 DA the primer out into existing paint, red scotchbrite the rest of the panel, sealer/base over the primer, clear the whole panel.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Well I finally got some color on the truck, well the interior. I could not wait to see what the color would look like so I just thought I'd shoot the interior just to see if I really liked it.

This is my backyard paint booth.lol

Here you go

Yeah I'm still rollin on it, but I'm lucky if I get to work on it every weekend. But I have a hope and a prayer so it will get done. The only question is when.lol

Oh yeah I am. At least that's the plan at this point anyway.
I recently picked up an upholstery sewing machine and am trying to learn some basics from a couple friends that own upholstery shops. I figured what the heck because I have the truck and the suburban to do, so I may as well at least learn the basics of doing a seat.
