Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

sorted pretty much every nut bolt screw and washer to make sure i have em all back from the phospate coaters. talk about every nut and bolt restoration... no one mentions you gotta sort em back out, but it saves money and time as i only needed two runs cost $100. $50 each run, or course they just dumped frinking everything in one bin, so u better take plenty o pics and have a few build books cuz "dumpty" wants to be put back togther again!!!

My truck is registered, insured and operable (barely).

I remember those days living in the California bay area. Can't say I miss it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Well. I did not do it all today but I did finish it today and I couldn't be happier.
I have being trying to find push on weather strip for my 1964 GMC and I think I have found it.
I tried re-attaching the original glue on type with not much success, I went ahead and bought the push on type that GMC Paul's sells for later model trucks thinking I could make it work and it doesn't.
I have found however that the Door Seal weather strip off of a 2006 to 2009 Honda Civic 2 door Coupe P/N 72315-SVA-A01ZA Right and P/N 72355-SVA-A01ZA Left is the perfect fit. And I do mean perfect, the Honda weatherstrip comes as a formed continuous loop and it is exactly the right length, no trimming required. I have attached a few photos.
I also finished up my Altman Easy latches and they work great with the new weatherstrip.

How on earth did you manage to find out they fit perfect? That's awesome. Something I'd definitely do.

Nice!! Did you use any adhesive? Have you driven it yet to see how it seals out wind and rain? I might try these also after reading about all the troubles others have had with after market seals. PS, Nice truck!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I have a 2007 Honda van so I pulled the seal off one day and found that other then being too short the profile was perfect. The next day my daughters 2006 Civic coupe became the next victim. Eureka!!!!
I bought it from Honda Parts Cheap http://www.hondapartscheap.com/
New for $38.92 per side.
More then the glue on but 1 piece, fits perfect and is push on.
Lots of 2006 to 2009 Honda Civic coupes around so probably available used.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Seals perfect all around the door.
Nice soft bulb that compresses easily when the door shuts.
No adhesive required, pushes on easy and holds tight, no puckers at corners,
exact fit.
With the Altman latches just a gentle push to close the door instead of the usual slam that shakes everything and everyone in the truck.
Here is a link to a video of the door closing with the new latches and weather strip.

Rob, you should start a separate thread on your find, it needs to be in the FAQs. Great work!

The po had painted the mirrors and they looked terrible so before I bought some other ones I sanded them down to bare metal and repainted them. I wanted them to look older so I patina sanded and they came out looking pretty good. Name: mirrior 206.jpg

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Bled the brakes, replaced the water pump and greased the A-arms on my 66. Installed a below the bed toolbox and vacuumed it out. Also changed the timing up a bit to 34 degrees all in before the vacuum can.

Removed the entire front end from the 61 so I can clean up the frame and install a new engine/Trans.
Then I was tired and got cleaned up
