Hey, I like your build so far. Can't wait to see the progress with the carbureted engine. I have been throwing the ideas around for a while on my 68. Is the engine stock?

Thanks much. It's come a long way but has a long way to go. Yes, the engine is totally stock.

Haha! Thanks for checking in, John. I haven't gotten anything done on it since I got it home. It's just sitting in my garage. I've had some other financial priorities as of late but I plan to start back up pretty soon. I'm ready to drive it!

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build

Well, I'm back at it.

Just ordered all new fuel system for the truck today. Going to maintain the in cab tank for now and get it cleaned and sealed. Ordered all new Fragola PTFE braided line, aluminum fittings, new sending unit, Holley Red fuel pump, Russell filter, and Edelbrock single feed fuel line/filter. All black since I'm planning to black out the engine and compartment.

Still got a ways to go before it's running/driving but I'm back at it.

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build

Ran across a deal on CL I just couldn't pass up (20x8.5/20x10). Also made a trip to Summit to return some items that wouldn't work and grab some drop spindles. And the fine people at Summit were out of the CPP spindles I planned to pick up and gave me the more expensive Belltech 3" drop spindles for the same price. Now that's service!

Also, regarding the wheels, yes, I know about the hub issue (haven't tried them on mine yet) and yes, the rear wheels are the 6.25 backspace. Likely need a spacer but for the price I paid, you can't beat it. I'll likely even run some takeoff tires until I can afford the Budnik billet set-up I want down the road.

Nice pile of parts and awesome score on the wheels. Something about new parts that gets us motivated again.

Thank you! New parts (and a little $$$) get me motivated for sure. And it definitely takes both to participate in this hobby.

It finally looks like "no direction" is finally starting to get some...well, direction. Even though I haven't been able to source everything from the board/board vendors or or the used market, I have to say that the guys at Summit are really first class with their service and attention to customer care. Gotta love good folks like that in the business.
