Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part III

A couple pics of my 68 C30 taken this weekend. Finally got to see this truck with a bed on it somewhere other than in my mind. Removed 60 inches of frame wheelbase down to 115".

What did you start with that allowed you to remove 5 feet of frame?

The cab and chassis came from GM to Open Road motor coach company with 157" wheelbase. Open Road sliced the frame and extended it 18" more to a whopping 175" wheelbase. It was a mile long and the camper extended about 4 to 5 feet past the tire. It was Longgggggggggggggggg.
I have a build thread in the 67 to 72 section titled "Meet Homer". It was the longest frame I had ever seen.

Very cool! Looks like you have to be careful working though or you will back up into a cactus!

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part III

Thanks for the compliment ole dollor, Dad will turn 86 this July 4th and loves his old truck, it was a trailer queen the first 7 years after restoration now we get it out on pretty days. I still have the original cancelled check Dad used to buy the truck $4037.00 Thanks again.

Thanks man it was my dads truck before he passed in 06. It's been sitting since but it was running when it was parked. Also it doesn't have power steering or power brakes. God Bless Texas!

I have heard this many many times but today for some reason, it struck me as curious. Why was it parked if it was running? Love the original look BTW.

Nice truck, love the originality and colour. Are the bucket seats original to the truck?

My dad never taught me to drive a stick before he passed and my mom doesn't either. I need to learn so I can get it up and running and drive it. and thanks for the comment. I think ill get it running and update a few things but other wise leave it stock. I like dropped trucks but I think ill leave this one at stock height.

I figured there must be a reason. That's a pretty weak one though! Seriously, you learning to drive pop's truck and keeping it the way it is is awesome. Wish I were closer, I would volunteer my amazing driver instruction skills!

Lol yeah I need to get on that. I just love the way the truck looks at the stock height I couldn't see myself lowering it at all. I will need to put A/C and Disc Brakes on it though for comfort and safety sake. God Bless Texas!

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part III

Thanks already gone, The truck was originally bench seat truck but I added Truck World factory buckets, I got the seats from Jerry Brown Crossville TN. and sent them to MO. to have Truck World install there covers. Larry Nease is the owner and does a great job I have a couple more 67-72's and he has made factory covers for all of mine. Thanks Again

very NICE... I would like to know how well it breaths with that shaker on top? I have one similar and wasn't sure it will flow good enough.

Already Gone, The seats are aftermarket. I have the original seat, in decent shape, but it's uncomfortable and I drive this truck.
