Re: My build up thread 67 small window short/fleet

Small amount of progress today. I got the old trailing arm crossmember out and installed a cpp lowered x-member with the exhaust holes. I need it for the driveshaft clearance and the exhaust cut holes were a bonus The crossmember came in powered coated silver and I scuffed it up and wiped it down and shot two coats of Eastwoods high gloss chassis black to match the rest of the frame. I like the x-member is nice and moved the pinion angle a little, but also made the exhaust a little harder to accomplish by moving the trailing arms up about 2-3" higher on the x-member taking precious space around the front panel of the bed I also got new upper ball joint installed, after realising the uppers were original I went ahead and swapped them out knowing they were for sure shot I haven't painted them yet,but will soon. Her are the pics..

Nice project and an even better story. I think "Gramps" would be proud.

Re: My build up thread 67 small window short/fleet

A very minor update, but progress is progress. I got the plug wires installed and mostly finished up. I need to fab up a bracket to hold them in place behind the heads. I love the way you can't hardly even see them from the front and sides of the motor. Best thing they are easy to get to by the way the headers are off the block a little. I also moved the temp sending unit to the pass side head to make it easier to hid the wiring for it.

At this rate, 2009 I still have quite a bit of welding to do to the cab and it has been too hot to weld in my shop Hope to get a day or two in over the next couple of weeks. The electrical contractor I work for landed a 1200 amp 3 phase service that me and 1 apprentice have been working on for the last three weeks. We have ran well over 900' of conduit, in the air underground on the roof, in varying sizes from 1 1/4" up to 3" EMT. We have about 100' of 3" rigid that has to be run outsie and 30' off the ground. A 10' stick of 3" weighs in around 75 lbs and we have to stck three pipes together and do it 3 times. The pipes gets 4 500 thousents copper each conductors that weigh in at 1.2 lbs per foot per wire The main panel is 84" tall or 7'2" almost a foot taller than me We are installing the service and and providing power for 8 A/C systems as well as rewiring most of the church. The church was built in 1896 and is BEAUTIFUL!! but like everything it needs some help. I will take some pics of the church and post them in GD in the next week or so.

Talking Re: My build up thread 67 small window short/fleet

No real progress to report, but I did score a super nice set of American eagles off the parts board. The wheels are 17x8 with 4.5" back spacing with 235/65/17 Toyo proxes S/T. They arrived today and you know I had to mount them on the truck to what they look like So here are a couple of pics and hopefully in a the next few weeks I will get back on the truck and get rolling on the last of the metal work on the cab.

Lookin good Byrd! I'm using the same tire and rim combo, (different sizes), it's a classic look.
I love the clean look of your engine. The wiring turned out great, and the headers look awesome. I'm cleaning up a set of those Mickey Thompson covers for my small block. I'm trying to polish them, but it's taking a while because the aluminum has a lot of blemishes under the paint.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks!! I am itchin' to get back on it

The M/T's are just there to keep the dust out for now, I have some polished flamed covers for the motor when the truck is ready for them There are pics of the polished valve covers and breather back a page or two.

I think Randy has decided to sell the project for personal reasons according to this thread he started Jan 8. Maybe he will change his mind.

Things are getting better(slowly) around here and I will be moving forward with Frank. I have figured it up and it will be cheaper in the long run to finsh it and then sell it(only if I still have to). With the amount of $$ I have in it now and what I could get out of it as it sits is more than I would stand to loose if it were complete. It is suppossed to be in the 40's-50 degrees here next week so heating the shop won't be too costly(30x50 OUCH!!) I hope to have some updates this week. I met Rick at the shop to get a material list and look over what is left to do to the cab. I picked up a set of NOS rockers and I am excited to see how much better they will fit then the crappy repops. I will weigh the two sets,NOS and repops and see if they are really much different. I know the NOS ones feel very different in my hands and are A LOT stiffer and do not have all the lines running down them from the crappy tooling in China. So fingers crossed this upcoming week and hopefully making some good progress. I will most likely only be able to do two nights a week for about 2-3 hrs so it will still be very slow, but progress none the less.

Rick will be starting on the rockers and we will hang the fenders on the cab to check the alignment before we weld them in. I will get started on finishing up the fuel filler(I want my filler in before the exhaust), rear brakes( getting lines cut and reflared to change over to flex line), and wash and touch up the frame and then off to the exhaust shop.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I read this whole entire thread for this?

What's the scoop? Has it been sold, is it still in progress, is it finished?

Anybody have any details?

That was one nice build thread to come to an end like that.
