Saw a couple of nice camaros at the World of Wheels show in St Paul today.



Not sure if you can read the posters, but the black one is basically an original stock Yenko survivor car. The other one was a prototype Yunick race car with lots of experimental stuff from Yunick and GM engineering.

OK, So over the last little bit, I got the shell done and the doors on, I decided to get the car on the ground and get the rest of the sheetmetal to fit the car. So of to the races with some suspension, First thing to do, strip the rear diff and clean it up, cut the old brackets off........ Look what I found in it!!!!!! At least the gears and carrier are safe, the bearings seemed ok too. So, I am guessing that when this rear diff exploded before Graham got it, they rebuilt it with new parts, which they did. and did not clean out one tube of it. SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!

TGhis weekend, Graham's son Luke ( EASTNINEMOTO, ON THE BOARD ) came down with his wife, he is my wife's cuzin and wanted to help for a bit, well who am I to say NO to FREE labour, of vourse I wanted help. so a bit more work, we got the rear diff in the car, centered, welded new perches on it....... found out the rear diff is from a 71 chevelle. Then put the subframe under the car.... and had to fit the rest togehter, so just a bunch of teaser pics, but they sure look good. Oh and by the way, the rear diff was not centered at all to start with, it was almost an inch ove to one side, how nice, also found out when i had the diff apart that one of the axles are wrong, so guess what that means......... But she is centered now and done. On to some pics. oH AND A REALLY HORRIBLE PIC OF ME, THANKS LUKE.

Since your welding on the rear axle anyway, you might consider welding the tubes to the center section. It will help with those kind of HP numbers.

she is looking awesome! it is amazing what people do and touch! some people need to keep there hands off of things, especially rear ends! you could take that 2 ways but i mean the ones under vehicles! my rear end in my truck was screwed up from the po like in your camaro. i know he had put all new stuff in and did not take any measurements! i had like .75" play at the yoke of backlash slop! sounded good going into drive and reverse, bang, bang!

Ok, Ok, here is a tad bit, been working on the trunk some. had to grind some of the edges down, and needed to line up the trunk hence the 2x6. This trunk lid is not in the best condition, but I can work with itm a few too many spoiler holes, some crappy cuts in the bottom and a bit more, I also had to add 1/8" to one front edge, was goin greatm then WHAM!!! last couple spot welds and it warped, oh well, nothing a little heat won't fix,

I've used 2x4's too. kinda fun...

It's kind of sad how quickly these cars were literally slapped together. The car was rushed to market to compete with the mustang and sold in huge numbers. Not a good combination for a quality fit and finish.

OK!!!! Time for an update, been kinda busy lately but have still got some done, the trunk lid made me prterbed, I hate it when it goes good ,the turns bad real quick. Anyway, I finally went out to the shop and managed to finish the trunklid, got the edges all welded up and to the point of where I wanted them, once that was finished I hadto tackle my horrendous hurdle, of course my acyetlene and oxygen tanks are at my brothers right now so I made due with what I had, my uni-spotter with a shrinking tip. All-in-all, it actually turned out pretty decent, from the pics it looks like crap, but I shrunk her down and got her level, even to my surprise!!! Also had to patch a serious hole up underneath the lid, On to some pics.

So, I got the trunk done!, now on to the drivers door, well, it fir ok. not great. The bottom of the doo lined up not bad, I will leave it, however the rear of the door fitted like crap, the top was a 1/8th inch wider, can not have that, so out with my tig wire and start creating a good gap for it. I got it welded up, then ground down, and then leveled the door all out so it is near perfect with the quarter panel. I think that it will be good. Looks alright to me, I still have to move the door back 1/16th of an inch. To my liking. but she is level, up, down and across. Looks snazzy.

Oh, I almost forgot, something showed up for the car 2 days ago, some MOSER axles, if he breaks these we have a problem!!!!! Installed them into the car, and figured out the back spacing for the rims, now to order those tomorow, BTW, thoses axles are beefy, me like alot! P.S. Can you spot the fastest thing in this picture? It goes 315 km/h, which is 196mph, just got her out yesterday, got her home, and gonna clean her up and sell her.

Fantastic job and liking the attention to the detail. It’s gonna be a great looking car when finished. Question, just assuming your just stripping the paint with the 8” sander? Any tips what grit work the best? Sorry if I missed it in your other posts... Bill

The car was orignally sandblasted, one that was done, she was sanded entirely with 80grit on a 6 inch da sander. When stripping the paint, if it is thick like this one, I started with 40grit lightly, then went to 120 grit. and back to the da sander. Thanks

Ummm, this one was never for me to keep, I bought it to sell, I can=t afford to keep it anyway. besides I have 03 gixxer 750, she is in pieces right now, I laid her down after hitting a rock 2 years ago, but she will be back on the road right away,
