I hate putting doors together. I can't imagine doing that on an assembly line.

Keep on it!

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Rebuilt the vent windows. NOT A FUN JOB! Almost worth just buying new ones. The rivets/rivet tool are pretty frustrating to use to say the least. Also put together part of the door with the new window regulators:

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Going to redo mine but heard about the tool and rivets are a pain. Planning on using pop-rivets, hopefully easier.

Beautiful truck and great work! I parted out a 72 custom deluxe a few yes ago that was the same color combo from the factory. It was too rusty and no title.

Do you have any tips on installing the vent windows and door glass? That is next on y agenda. Iirc, most suggest installing door glass then vent(?)

Thank you for the compliments.

Yeah the only way I was able to get the vent window in was to put the window glass in first followed by the vent window. I tried the other way but couldnt get it to work. Definitely tape up anything you don't want scratched because it does not go in easy!

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

I wasn't happy with how the steel bed floor was turning out (it had been hit in the rear previously) so I picked up a wood bed this weekend. I really like the look of the wood beds so I'm excited to see how this turns out.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Got the bed back from the blaster yesterday. Tailgate is shot but I wasn't planning on using it anyways. There are a few small holes I have to weld up from the tie down brackets someone put on there and a few dents to pull but nothing I cant handle.

These came with the truck and I thought the were funny. They might not make the chopping block but for now they stay

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Started a little surgery on the wood bed today. Some wheel arch rust and minor rust at the bottom of the rear bedside I had to cut out.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Picked up a new bedside and put it on this weekend. Unfortunately there are a few dings from the shipping company but shouldn't be a problem.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

After a long winter and a VERY long time prepping the bed I got it painted this weekend. I was also able to paint a few other parts in the process. Should be back together just in time for spring!

Very nice work on the bed. I know what you mean about the VERY long time it takes to prep one of these trucks for paint. Keep up the hard work....!

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

Installed a temporary wood bed today so I can drive the truck until I get some oak wood for the bed. Also installed the new rearview mirror, and cowl/antenna. She is coming together quickly now.
