Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

I just turned 19 last month, i have had my '68 c10 shortbed for about 2 years now, it was just really hard to have time to work on it in high school with sports and all, so when i started looking around on here at all the bad@$$ trucks, it made me itch so to speak, so no that i got the itch, ive been working on it.

I am 24. Got a 70 lwb chev. My first project. Pretty sure the 67-72 GM/Chevy trucks were the sexiest ever built!

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

i agree the 67-72 are very sexy looking however the 60-66 era really pulls a very tight second for me, a 66 4x4 helped get me into the older generation trucks, and couldn't find one i could afford and instead got my 72 c25 gmc and i don't regret it!

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

I'm 23 and am on my 3rd 67-72. The first was a 67/69 I bought when I was like 18 that I never got running. The second was a lifted 70 K10 with a pretty rough body (in second pic), which I traded last year for my 68/72 I have now (first pic). Cosmetically its the same as when I got it, I've been doing mechanical repairs first (like a new motor). It's good to see our generation is continuing to keep these trucks alive.

Man i dunno if i would have traded for a 2wd but it is sexy... i guess i own to many 4x4s now. It is good to see that there are so many of us maybe one day our kids will take care of these beauties for us.

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

Thanks man. Ya I guess the K10's are more rare but this one was pretty rough- covered in bondo (especially the bed), must've been in a major accident or something cuz the frame was cut and welded back togother (not all the way through as if it was a long bed, but like it was bent out of shape so bad it had to be straightened out, and it wasn't done by a professional). I hated that stupid th350/np205 leak too, have you run into that yet? We pulled the transfer case and put new seals in it and after a few months it already started leaking again. I never used the 4wd anyway and I always wanted a fast, lowered 2wd, so it worked out for me. It's alot more comfortable as a daily driver too vs. those stiff 6 inch lift leaf springs all the way around.

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

I thought I would revive this thread as I find it interesting.

I really enjoy going to car shows from LS Fest and Street Car takeover to local shows in town. My favorite show hands down is Goodguys. I’m fortunate to have a Goodguys in March and November here in AZ. For the most part you see young people driving modern cars especially those from their youth naturally. My buddies drive 4th gen F bodies, C5s, and early 2000s cars because it’s what we grew up with and they’re pretty affordable right now.

I was always excited more by the classics due to the thick sheet metal, style, and lack of BS. When I was 19, I bought my first 67-72 being a 1972 Blazer. Sold it when I was 21 to fund my 1972 Split Bumper which I am currently LS Swapping now at the age of 25. Though I am into modern drivetrain, you cant beat old American Steel. I never really had any influences to be into these cars. My Dad is actually into modern cars rather than the classics lol Anyways, I thought I would share as I am on the hunt for 70-72 K10/ K20 right now. Take one of those any day before one of the Fugly Silverados GM is producing now adays.

Nice looking blazer and Camaro. The split bumper cars are good looking for sure. I’m really into my 5th gen a lot these days, the ls power is hard to beat. Id love to have a first or early second gen some day as well. I guess I’m not quite as young as some people in this thread but I am 30. I’ve had my 3100 since I was 16 and my K20 since I was 26.

I'm 66 and I wouldn't mind having that Z/28 with the RS option one bit. I had a '69 Camaro RS (not a Z/28) with a 327 and a 4 speed. Fun car!

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

I'm still the young buck that got into the trucks at 18. It was always older fellers who shared my interest and I respected them to the highest degree, and that is what put me where I am today. I have friends of all ages with most being much younger than me now. My best buddy I go to swap meets and fool with the trucks together with is young enough to be my son, and we mess with people telling them we are father and son. Been friends for over 15 years now and he is 40, married, with a daughter competing in national gymnastics. Time to add a grandson to the mix! I have young bucks come over a good bit, as well as talk to them at Carlisle. I never was one to see age and that includes how I view myself. If you are alive you are the same age as me... unless a good bit older of coarse!

Nice to see all the youngsters enjoying the same trucks I learned to drive in. Now I am staring 60 in the face and still driving one! Just hope they don't get too expensive for the young guys.

Re: Young Bucks How Many of us are there?

20, got my 69 C10 3 days before my 18th birthday. I got it for myself as an early birthday present and as a gift to myself for graduating early. She's almost been sold several times and has caused me a lot of blood sweat tears and money but she's coming along. Hoping to get a frame for her in a couple of days

You ain't old until you can't keep up with the young bucks. No problem here. Many can't keep up with me! Never had a wrinkle or grey hair stop me from doing a thing. Got my first truck in '73.
