Trying to assemble theses parts next



Seems that both jaws are not the same, will have to determine which goes where. Does not say anything about it in the service manual

Not sure it matters. All it does is provide the indent for where the pin goes for each position of the tilt. Thats why it's staggered like that. Should move and stop in each position regardless of which way you install them. I was trying to see if I had pics from when I assembled mine, but couldn't find them. But I really don't think it matters.

You're welcome..... glad to help. I pulled this off of Wikipedia .... "In the context of lubrication, grease typically applies to a material consisting of a soap emulsified with mineral or vegetable oil." So personally I don't think it matters.... I always use the same grease I use on my ball joints haha

Found it was easiest to clamp the bowl to a work surface, gave you two hands to start the retaining pin




Not much to put the turnsignal switch in...

Waiting on the bearings to come in from Wes, Classic Heart Beats. Thanks kean for getting me back on track with those photos

Found out that if you push in the two side tangs from the front, you can use the channel locks to press out the connecter. Luckily the tangs are not spring steel, so once you push them in, they stay in, so it makes it easier to extract them. Dont forget to bend them out when you are ready to install them

Trying to figure out how to fix my heater control, seems that a number 4 screw would fit, so i can drill and tap. Used my dremel cutoff wheel to get rid of the burr on the rivet, now it will act as a alignment dowel. Just have to drill the center

J, why are you running two cruise switches? Just trying to see which one you like better? Is that a vacuum setup or newer?

Actually, the master cruise switch looks like a dealer installted option, so i will be opting for the turn stalk switch....thought i could use both, but M&H says i cant

Vacuum, that is another story. Was goning to use a air pressure gauge, for my compressor, but decided a vacuum gauge would be more usefull in keeping my foot outta the throttle....WOT

Found it on the classifieds, so im guessing its stock

hehe, I think I may have mixed my metaphors or something. I meant was your cruise system a vacuum operated one...Do you have a vacuum guage too? I put one in my Blazer too, but still haven't figured out what it is telling me.

That stalk kind of looks like the one I have on my 71 pickup. Its a 73 and up aftermarket system that Sears used to sell. It ran off of vacuum and a magnet on the driveshaft for speed input. Mine has a slide on off switch too, though.

OK! Now i see what your asking....it is operated by vacuum, brake pedal cuts out vacuum and electrical

How about if we split it half way...mixed transtar gravel guard (white), with eastwood sprayable undercoating(black) and came up with a grey.

Finish has to be brush/roll on, durable. Powdercoating is out right now, dont have access to a large oven, yet!

How close is it to the rings/buckets? I'd think it would look better if it matches spot on or is black or bright silver like the trim.
