Re: PO has me PO'd

They wanted 50 bucks for this piece in billet, since you dont really see it, i thought what the...., so, i cut most of it off on the bandsaw, then a little rough trim with the dremel. Some more filing and sandblast

I dont live in alaska, so the heated water jacket does me no good

A couple more days and i get to order my F.A.S.T. XFI

Re: PO has me PO'd

Relocated my pcv valve to the rear of the aftermarket vc, more direct line to the intake. Bored hole out to 15/16" using a deming drill ( reduced shank to fit in my 1/2" chuck). Bit of a struggle to get the grommet over both pieces, since vc was thicker then oem.

Next will drill both pieces, oem diffuser and vc, and use a countersunk pop rivet to hold in place. Grommet alone holds well, but i dont want to take the chance and have it rotate with vibrations

Hey, dale 99.....

Have another favor to ask. Could you show me how your coil is mounted on your intake? Was told today, as i was ordering my FAST XFI, that my coil could mount up like the camaros...any help?

Thank you for getting me past the pcv system

Re: PO has me PO'd

My coil is not normal. Normal is on the passenger side of the intake, bracket bolted to the left 2 rear bolts.

like this if the link will work.

Re: PO has me PO'd

there we go. Thats the coil on the left of the pic, thats cut off. There is a "z" bracket that bolts to the intake. Then you have an L shapped bracket that the coil bolts to, that sits on the z bracket.

I dont even have that stuff to assemble and snap pics of for you.

Re: PO has me PO'd

which msd coil? They make a "oem replacement" one, which is what I'm running. Its just not in the stock location.

Found a pic of my setup from a few years ago online. Coil is still in this location, but everything else is different.

Re: PO has me PO'd

6al is a controller box which does the same thing as a computer system. IIRC you still need an actual coil.

Every bundle is clearly written, with one way plugs, but just trying to lay it out now. Seems to be the passenger side kick panel may be to best location for mounting the PCM, whatever that stands for...

Consider yourself lucky to have electrical background, it doent come easy to me. Trust me, i will be on the phone alot to the technicians at FAST. First step in the directions states to only run plus and negative to the battery, no intermittent leads any where. Not heeding this advise is the leading cause of problems. Also, running pcm wires to close to the ignition wires, and spark plug wires

Now i have to find about a 4" holesaw, location right above trans. cover

Dont rush it....possibly you havnt noticed when i started my build. lol

Re: PO has me PO'd

You have pcm, or ecm.

PCM=Powertrain control module.
ECM=Engine control module.

Main difference, if it controls the transmission and more (ABS, traction control, transfer case, etc). So that may just be a "ECM".

Re: PO has me PO'd

No, just curious if FAST makes a retrofit harness for the TPI for use with the XFI, or if you had to modify one to work.

So the EFI will control an electronic transmission?
