SSABMUD -

Great job on the console. I like how you blended old with new (cup holder and lid) a lot of times it looks mis match but yours looks like it came that way. I'm in the process of building my center console out of MDF. I am also working on the back cab area that you made reference to. It was a challenge in the corners with the compound curves.

Looking good my man.

Thanks Marc. I will say that it was gratifying smashing the MDF console I made into a million pieces. Me and wood have never got along. I am going to take a few days off of the truck and figure out where all my stereo stuff is going and how I want to do the back panel. If yours turns out like the rest of your truck, I'm sure to be jealous.

SSABMUD, great job on the console. I thought with your metal working skills you would have done it in metal. I have not worked with fiberglass in awhile, what a mess! Keep up the great work.

I did build it out of metal the first time but switched to MDF, then fibreglass to make my future plans easier to do (yeah right). It just makes such a damn mess and I am still blowing out fibreglass boogers. Winter is thinking about ending soon so there will be lots of outside sanding soon.

I was *this close* to doing some pressure washing outside on Sunday, but we got a fair bit of snow, so I decided to spend the day plowing driveways with the Atv instead. Someday we'll be able to get back to the great outdoors...

SSABMUD, looks great. When you get that all done you can come down and we can do the inside of my panel. I want to do custom door panels and kick panels with speakers out of glass or at least the sculpted part. Great job.

I don't think I want to see fibreglass again after this is done. I do think this will be far easier than the console was to do. Frame is looking mighty fine Shannon. What spring rates did you use? I need to order shocks soon.

SSABMUD, all come on! HAHA Thank you on the frame. They are alden shocks and were supplied with the front end kit. I used them in the back that way they will all be the same. I will have to check on the spring rate. They had pink and white markings on them. I figured I would get everything transfered and see how they are. Then order another set with the right spring rate or the same.

I used an unhinged piano hinge to hold the glass cloth at the top, cut the bottom curve shapes out of foam, and then held it tight with a piece of 1/4" flat bar and weights. Next step is speaker rings and moulding it to blend with my console which is tricky because it needs to be removable. This actually was easy! The hard parts are yet to come.

Well that method was an epic fail. Do not do it that way. I made a fibreglass football out of that one and am now doing it in foam like I should have in the first place. I have to learn the hard way.

Yeah too much movement that way, but like Oscar Goldman said "we will build him better, faster, and stronger". The foam is awesome once again. I almost have it glassed up right now.

Second time was much better. Just enough glass on there for it hold its shape so I can take it out and work on it. Not a lot of fun trying to crawl around in that little cab.
