Reverting to the old technology-putting the knock sensors in the side of the block like the old LT-1s. More like two steps forward, one step back- the DOD is worth it...

Re: Killers 5.3L install

I don't really care for DOD, you're only looking at a 1.5-2.5 mpg gain from it on the highway, tops. Just doesn't seem worth the effort and programming to keep it. I like the general principle, but until they are adding 5-10mpg, it's not of interest.

If my engine came with it, that's great - but for the sake of ease, I think I'd rather go non-DOD for the reduction of hassle and stuff in the way.

On another note, where did you find your metallic heat sheild tape? I was hunting at Summit a short while ago and couldn't find anything.

i know, i know. it's a killer setup! yours is way better than mine. mine is just ... different. look on the bright side:

you can run ethanol, i can't.
you'll get better gas mpg than i will.
your engine is newer and less mileage.
you paid less $$$ for your setup
yours is almost done, and mine is almost done...but drastically diff't schedules.
yours will be better installed than mine

hell, once i'm done, i need to drive over to 68ss' house one weekend and beg him to help me rewire the engine harness

Re: Killers 5.3L install

killer is finally done with mocking everything up.... got the rear disc brake kit installed and the right fittings came in from summit, so the fuel system was completly mocked-up as well....once it was all together, i started tearing killer down to the frame....i got further then the pics show, all i lack is removing the front suspension....this will be removed tomorrow morning and weather permitting will be gone to the sandblasters by noon....
and here is another sneak peak of this 'coolness'....

the jack stand is a custom speaker thats held up many of misc parts, your frame almost destroyed it, so ill put that on your tab .... and good news i got 35$ for the frame and rear end at the scrape yard...

68S.S..... I know you were looking for a career in the 'specialty' automotive field & decided it was time to start working for yourself. Are you doing this one full time or part time after 'work'?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Good for you. Good luck on your new path. If you ever require a helping hand, I'm not too far away.

Nice Firebird BTW.
