I know that my stand alone harness, (from Swaptime) does have a single wire that is labeled "fan" The fan that I installed just has 2 wires, so I'm hoping my computer can work with what I bought. It would be really cool if the ECM does control my fan with variable speed because it seems like it may be loud at full speed. I probably wouldn't be able to hear it over the motor anyway. I won't be much of a help with anything wiring related, but I'll be glad to try.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
It just so happens that I'm getting married Oct 10 as well! That does sound like a lot of work. But hey, instead of paying a venue you have improvements to your property!
We don't even have an engine yet, I'm just doing some preliminary research. If we end up going the Gen V route I'll have to get ahold of Mitch to talk through some details. I like the way he reworks the harnesses and he seems to be a good source of Gen V swap information.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
Congratulations on your wedding man! I guess it’s true what they say “Great minds think alike!” That was exactly my thinking, I mean a decent venue runs at least 5K, and the slab will be about the same, plus I get my shop finally erected... it’s a win win. My plan currently is to do the work myself, but I’m starting to think I may have to hire it out.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
Dang, been gone too long. Lot's going on around here! Excited to see the paint man. And you better bet you will need the slowest reducer they make in our heat brother. I had good luck painting in a homeade garage booth with slow reducer made for 90* heat. And my garage was around 90-100* when I painted. No problems. Single Stage hot rod flatz. But just keep an eye on it, will be fine.
I like that blaster idea. The tank looks like it will work. I wish i had a blaster. Borrowed one of those HF double tanks from a friend. It didn't really work very well for me. If I had a blast cabinet for small parts it would work just fine. The tank you show and setup looks like it should have good volume and pressure.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
No truck update yet, but at least one project that was holding me up is done now. I had been working on getting the concrete forms built for my shop. I took a look at the calendar and at the pace I had been going, there was no way I would have enough time to get both slabs poured before the wedding. I changed the order of priority and switched over to the pole barn project. That’s where my daughter wants to have her wedding reception a few months from now, and dancing on a dirt floor wasn’t gonna cut it. It took a week for me to clean it out and sell off a ton of stuff. I bit the bullet and found a cement crew and got it knocked out this week.
Of course every year it seems the heaviest work I do is exactly the time we hit 100* and stay there til I’m done. Good Lord it’s HOT IN TEXAS.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
Agreed, very nice barn your building there. Does the loft go all the way front to back? And yeah man, it's been hot, making my body work go slow...

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
Thanks guys. Yes the loft is the full 36 feet deep.. I have a staircase to the loft that I had to remove so the concrete work could proceed smoothly. If I keep that one I want to have it raise up to stay out of the way of the lower floor. I've also considered building a ladder to get up and pole to slide down, as a kid I went over to a friends house who had a barn with a hay loft that had a pole to slide down, so much fun back then. I'd probably bust an ankle if I tried it at 52.

Lonely and dusty. I'm hoping just one more month and I'll be able to get back to work on it.

Cornerstone...don't listen to them. I'm going on 4 years of honeymoon, but seriously why aren't you working on the truck!? LOL

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
The B.S. flag is well deserved...
Quote:
For the last month it's been our master bathroom remodel down to the studs, tile shower walls complete with cubby holes, floating concrete countertop vanity, tile floors and sheet rock / tape and bed/ texture. Only a paint job remaining! A weeks worth of work installing a 7.5 KW off grid solar panel system on the roof of the barn for "free" electricity for life. Still have another couple of weeks to go til that's finished! Who knows how much time I have in a real estate deal. I had to re platt my land in order to sell off our rental house to some friends. It'll be great having another family with boys my sons age around so he has other buddies to ride dirt bikes with, instead of only me. Then there was the chicken coup remodel... and the car repairs... and and and Responsibilities suck! I do appreciate you guys calling me out though! It's nice to know someone else besides me wants to see my truck finished!

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
We're just giving you crap - we know life happens. I can certainly be blamed for neglecting some things for working on trucks instead. But those all sound like more important tasks than a truck!
Would it be weird if I asked for before/after pics of your bathroom? That sounds like a really nice job. I've got a buddy interested in concrete countertops and in my commercial construction world it's not something I see.

Re: Uncle Loyd's 72' C-10
Guilty of this as well...very busy pandemic summer and fall with unexpected big events such as weddings and remodels are sometimes a part of life. Welcome overall but it can be detrimental for builds.
Hey when you have no one following your build like I do, you don't get as much good natured ribbing! Lots of folks invested in your success and have the best intentions for you. Can't wait for the time that it works in your life to spin back up and finish your build! |
