I know I went and got side tracked on this, but man take your time when you get back to your truck you get back to it, just make sure when you get back to it, you hit it fully force!

That sucks. you didnt get side tracked at all. im sorry for your misfortune near your birthday.
todays sunny, and cool, thinking i should get this engine sittin right. the manifold on the left side is to far back to cut the frame and not get hit in the head with a motor so im doing the driver side which looks like the wrong thing to do... im also gonna call up NAPA about there U joint conversions from 1310 U joint to 1310/1330 u joint.. I guess all drive shafts have a different size

It's all good man, there's always hiccups along the road, I don't know of a single build that goes perfect but it's part of the learning experience if everything went perfect, not everyone would do it just remember that man!

im sure you know how engines work.. just sometimes it gets technical. suck squeeze bang blow. 4 strokes on a v8. they number each cylinder to know how many rpms are going on within 4 strokes. it takes a lot. theres also rotations per second. if you divide 7000 rotations per minute by 60 seconds, youl get 116.66667 rotations per second. most guys dont build engines to do this for street, because thats alot of abuse on a engine. your 305 push your truck at an idle, and sounds good i bet. some want there cake and eat it too. some just love having a high reving engine with alot of peak horse power instead of the low end torque you get with your 305. then they make 2 stroke meth injected big blocks like the hemi 426, or fords over head 427 cammer. they go to 12000 rpms and produce 5000-8000 hp but dont really hold up to the whole thing. after a race everything is warped in top fuel... the 427 cammer was pretty popular in sixtys in nascar which it was band in nascar in the sixtys because the thing produced 550 hp and nothing could touch it. who called a meeting to ban it? chrysler. Well thanks for making me go off topic lol. i love talking engines

Your quite welcome man!!

Yeah engines are an interesting thing none the less, I have to admit I love my 305 even those people dog the s$&@ out of it, it's a great motor! I have to say though if money had it, I would probably do a 4.8 or 5.3 swap with a 4l60e tranny

Looking forward to an update man!

Re: 78 silverado stepside her names 'Quicksilver'

well heres the engine sittin in there now. I have the engine mounts. They just got here today, the truck gotta lil hammered finish right on the top of the core support. also pics of the C notches i did to the frame. did them eliptical so the longer the notch stronger the notch. instead of a huge circle. plus with the new engine mounts ill have room to have exhaust put there. TRANS-Dapt hooked me up with some quality pieces

Re: 78 silverado stepside her names 'Quicksilver'

todays nice and sunny. the kit came with the wrong engine mounts but i can still adapt my clamshells to the plates that adapt the older style motor mounts. so im doing that and, i need an alen wrench for the flush/countersunk bolts that came with it... i havent found one... i ordered my 1310/1350 U joint for the truck it will work with a 4l80E and my drive shaft so no problems there hoping i get the cross member in soon and the engine set down. its on a jack still.....
