Re: 76 Blazer build

parts/donor trucks are always nice to have... most of my 74 K5 was there but those little things you dont think of till you need them can be a killer

Re: 76 Blazer build

I think that I have parted out 2 trucks during this build, lol.

At the time, I did the skins because it was cheaper. The truck was intended to be a winter beater (had a plow) but has slowly snowballed into what it is now. The real kicker was that about a week after we did the skins, a local guy put 2 nos quarters up on craigslist, $500 for the pair! Would have saved me a lot of work!

Re: 76 Blazer build

Dropping her in for the final time, motor mount bases are now bolted in. Special thanks to my dad, he scored this Spec stage 3+ clutch, brand new in the box, at an estate auction for $40. No one knew what it would fit! He did though! lol

I think it would have been cool to do it all original but the white will look good too. let me know what you think of sound levels and heat inside the cab with the spray on liner. I might throw insulation and carpet in my truck if I can figure out a way to keep the water out
Sorry, I missed this. I have the same idea that you have, I picked up some of eastwoods sound deadening material and plan on putting carpet in too. Hopefully it will help keep the road noise and squeeks to a minimum.

how was the bed liner to spray? I just picked up the re finished full top for my 74 its pretty much done.... i need to get pics tomorrow befor she gets put away for the winter... it was mid 30s today.... brrrrrr
Glimmer, the raptor liner that I used was very easy to apply. It comes with its own gun (It may have been extra) and is a uses a hardener. It sprays easy but has alot more texture than bedliner out of a spray can.

Re: 76 Blazer build

Its been a little slow lately as I now have two sons and both are under the age of 2. The blazer runs, drives, and stops but I have only been collecting parts for it. I've picked up 10 H2 wheels, lug nuts, rear leaf springs, and a new windshield at Iola.
To slow things down even more, I just picked up a rust free 89 Jimmy from California that will be used for cruising duty until the blazer is done.

Re: 76 Blazer build

Just found your thread

Russgt you are doing some fine work all round. I have been itching to do a Blazer for a while and have passed on a few because of several different reasons mostly they have been wheeled to death, rusty or both. The classic woodgrain and that green brings back memories.

My plan is doing a 2wd but the most are 4wd so I'm thinking of redoing the running gear in a later Blazer to 2wd. If your 4x4 turns out as nice as I think it is going to I may change my mind.

Re: 76 Blazer build

Thank you, your best bet is to wait for a clean truck to pop up. Lowered K5s do look pretty awesome.

You never know, I may have to change it back to green and put the woodgrain back on!

Re: 76 Blazer build

Some progress, installed vent windows and working on door handles. Next up, replacing front shackles and bushings with some ORD units.

Re: 76 Blazer build

I bed lined the roof, it is still wet and will flatten more as it dries (I hope). Next up: install cab lights, install windshield, and bed line the rear top.

Re: 76 Blazer build

It runs, drives, and stops but my 2 1/2 year old and 10 month old boys slow down my progress quite a bit. LOL
