Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Vern from Alberta.
1965 GMC, built by my late brother in law, Ray, between 1987 and 1991. He was just 18 yrs old when he started it. When Ray passed in 1999, it was parked with 10,000 miles on the rodstoration and then only 500 miles put on it in the last 16 years. I'm the new owner now and I've a few changes planned but I pretty much like it the way it is.
Edit * Thanks to Woogeroo for sending many links including this forum. Great stuff here.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Hellow everyone I'm Jim, Well during one hell of a winter I found myself looking for a project and found this 64. When I picked the truck up it already had 350 built th350, 4link disk breaks. The overall condition of the truck was ok. the motor would run, just not the good. My plan was to play with it and drive it over the summer and this winter start from the frame and work my way up. Well its just about time to start. So I'm sure I will have some questions.
Jim.

Okay, to answer your first question:

Yes, you're gonna need some more tire out back.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Well I've been looking and using this site fairly frequently for a while and I realized I've never introduced myself. My name is Jared and I'm in Oklahoma City. I'm married and have a couple little ones. Go to school full time and do freelance design and web work and anything else to make a buck. I purchased a 65LWB with a 292 and 4spd, back in summer and have been working on it trying to make it functional. Lots of figuring out why the PO did this or changed that and then fix what I can. The good thing is I have good help. She's only 3 but she likes to contribute. Hopefully her little brother will as well in couple years.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Hey All,

My Name is Josh. I had been looking at getting a 67 to 70 driver and working on aesthetics. As it turns out I was chatting with my Dad about my idea and asked what his brother had done with the 60 C10 that he had when I was a kid. He said that it had just been sitting out and they were gonna scrap it, so I decided to bring it home. It has nothing under the hood, so I'm thinking a 350 with a modern 5 speed. (would love some advice on that) It is pretty badwith the roof rusted through so I may replace most of it, but it will still be Dad's truck to me. The picture of my son on the rear bumper was the clincher. Dad's truck will be my truck, and it will be his truck in time. I've started a build blog so you can check it out there. http://60c10rebirth.blogspot.com/[/URL]

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Hi all. I'm Tom and I am a truckaholic

I have been lurking here for some time and have several trucks I am working on at the present time. Here's what I am wrenching on these days:

- 1955 GMC 150 (3/4 ton) long stepside w/ 248 and 4 speed (purchased from 2nd owner) Currently at the body shop for paint, back to the original green color.

- 1964 C10 long stepside w/ 292 and 4 speed (purchased from Original owner)

- 1962 C10 short stepside w/ 235 and 4 speed (picking this one up tonight)

- 1938 Dodge D8 business coupe (street rod)

I am lucky enough to live in AZ where I can find nice old trucks. Great weather for the Road King too

I'm Rudy from Houston, I'm one of those guys that would love to finish a project one day. Lol. I bought this last March at Goodguys and it's a 65 with a 292 with factory AC. I also have a 83 Square body and a 2012 Roadglide.

Hi Guys, I'm Paul (AKA "Murphy" thanks to my Dad) from Ontario Canada. I just finished up a 7 year rebuild of my '62 GMC this past August. Also have an '84 GMC Sierra Classic, which is my daily driver. Itching to do do another project, need to decide if I rebuild the '84 (body is not bad but engine bay & interior are rough) or sell/trade it for a '60-63 GMC Suburban. After viewing all the great looking '60-'66 Subs on on the Suburban photo Thread I'm leaning towards trying to find a '60-'63 GMC Suburban to rebuild as a driver.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Can't believe I never introduced myself...I have certainly posted before. Hi..my name is Sean...and I have a truck addiction. (Wait for everyone to say HI SEAN). Friends call me either Puffy, or Buddha...I drove a '67 as my first vehicle, it was my grandpa's work truck, he was the original owner. Sadly, my father sold it when I went off to college, and I have wanted an old Chevy ever since.

So...last summer I bought "Orange Crush". '63 C20. The PO had put a 350 in it and converted it to an automatic, but did a bad swap job (and God only knows how much wear was on the engine) so I had Tony (Lil Red) over at 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks here in Kansas City do a proper swap and he had a nice 327 that he sold me. Crush is essentially my daily driver, although since I work from home, she gets driven around town and down the highway to pick up my kids. We moved in October, and the guy across the street has what looks like a fully restored '63 in his garage, so I need to go introduce myself.

Future plans, floor pans (it is currently nearly Flintstone), some interior paint and clean up, and some rust repair/body work. The bed wood looks pretty rough right now too, so might pull it and either refinish or repaint it.

Hello, I am Troy from Fairfield, Me. Just bought my first c10,

Pretty dang excited for spring to come so I can get this baby out of the garage and on the road. As cool as I think the truck is, vintage Ski-Doo's are my true passion

I do all my own work, get the knowledge I need from these great forums. I have a bunch of upgrades planned for my 62' c10 and will be asking many questions from you experts.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions

Hi Everyone. My name is Patrick, I've looked at this forum several times, and finally signed up! My project is the truck I got while in high school. Fifteen years ago (today, actually) I was involved in a pretty serious accident, but fortunately there was enough metal to keep me safe. I've messed with the truck off and on since then, nothing really serious. Until now. Trying to get it restored by 2016, or at least back on the road.

It's a '66 SWB stepside with a 250 straight six, cobbled together from other engines by PO's ('76 block, '72 top, '81 distributor, we think), three speed manual and significant oxidation problems. The bed's wrong, it's off a '68. I've been amassing floor panels for birthdays and Christmases for a few years now, so it's time to get cracking!

Last two pics are from 1999 and 1998.

My name is Moody, and here is a picture of my latest chevy project. It's a GMC, but will look like a Chevy when I'm done. I have owned a few mid 60's bowties including a 66 custom trimmed carryall and 2 others, a stepside, a couple short fleets and at least 3 long fleets.(I just sold one to Austraila)
I usually just flip stuff after a fluff, but I want to build this Panel for a keeper.

The car in the garage is my current flip project, a 1951 F--- Victoria.

Tha last photo is me in my favorite spot on earth (besides my garage and my bed) Joshua Tree National Park. I live in Riverside and hope to meet some local chevy truck guys.

I'll be doin my homework here and hope to start my frame off on the panel by this summer. Thanks for readin, Moody.

Just thought I'd introduce myself here in the 60-66 message board where I'll be spending a lot of time! My name is Mike and I'm from North Eastern PA. I just picked up a 1966 C10 Stepside SWB. The truck spent almost it's whole life as a Service station truck in Blue Bell PA which is north of Philly. The C10 is in pretty rough shape right now but I think it's worth saving this old girl from the scrap yard! I'm going to have a ton of questions for you guys during this build. I've never done such extensive rust repair as this truck requires but I think I'll be fine if I take my time. Frame is perfect with only light surface rust. Looks like I found the right place for help and info! Love how active this forum is! I will be starting a build thread shortly. Here are some pictures when we got it home. Still runs and drives great although the brakes hanging up.

Hey, welcome to the board Mikes66ChevyC10!
Looking forward to seeing you build plans, although when I read your truck story being a former Service station truck I was envious! I actually restored my '62 as "tribute" Service station shop truck for an old Canadian Oil Company my Dad used to work for, British American Oil. It as eventually bought out by Gulf Oil in the late '60s. My truck actually spent most of it's like as an Alberta farm truck. I guess if I owned your truck I would be tempted to bring it back to the original Service station look! Just my 2 cents anyway! Do you know what brand of Service station this truck used to be at? Going by the firewall it looks like the truck was originally orange or maybe faded red? I'm sure you will find lots of help along the way on this forum if needed. Don't let all the rust intimidate you, this was my first full body off frame restoration and ended up putting 17 patch panels in the cab alone! Good welding practice mind you. But as you said, take it one step and a time and it will get done. Good luck!

Thanks!! As a matter of fact I do know the brand of the service station the truck used to be at. I actually am in contact with the original owner of the truck and service station! I have talked with him several times now. He is a very nice guy and will be watching my build progress. His name and address was in the original owners manual along with service receipts from his service station!! The truck was originally orange but Amoco made him paint the truck blue. Years later the truck was painted black with a paint brush to try and stop it from rusting further by his son. The last time the truck was on the road was 1999.
