Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

in the back I ended up just removing the stock u-bolts, and just put the rear axle on top of the springs. then I bought the weld on axle perches from http://www.performanceonline.com/196...-PAIR-RAS6787/ and welded them to the axle. my truck was from Nevada so I used my original u-bolts. everything worked out good, but you have to make sure you keep the axle the exact same angle as before. otherwise it will vibrate like crazy. if you don't like welding or don't have one, I recommend these clamp on perches. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all56127
for shocks I didn't get any yet but don't think it will be a problem finding some.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

Well my truck was a california truck so I think I can do like you did. So I guess the thing to do would be to do one side at a time so the axle angle doesnt change? I have a welder.

So are you running no shocks right now?

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

i bought the c-notch kit from performance online, the same link you posted. the only problem i had with them was that they sent me 2 of the same side. so i just cut one off and said good enough. lol As for shocks, my truck is still a work in progress so i never drove it yet. to get the axle on the same angle, just put the perches parallel to the original ones already welded to the axle. then measure the distance between them in the front of the axle tube and the distance between them in the back of the axle tube. then just tack weld them in place incase you have to move them. then take the leafs and put them under the axle and reassemble. take it down the road to see if it vibrates. let me know if that makes any sense or not. haha

ok, great. One more thing I forgot to mention, if I remember right, their wont be any alignment pins on the top of the leafs, so you have to measure from the front of the leaf spring perch to the axle on both sides. So the axle is aligned correctly.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

well I decided to rip apart my motor, and found some interesting things. First off I found out the previous owner went through the motor and rebuilt it back in 2002. Also, my motor knocked a little bit before I tore it apart, which I found out was the rod caps were loose! Bearings and pistons were pretty scored up. I'll get some pictures up soon.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

To install taillights, there is 4 torques screws on the lens, and that pops off. Then there should be 4 more normal Phillips screw holding the backing piece on. Take the screws out and that will come off. After you pull it out a little, you will have to take the bulb plug-ins off the plastic backing part. Just give them each a quarter/ half turn and pull outwards. than all your left with its your wire harness hanging. Just let me know if something doesn't make sense.

O I feel your pain! I thought I had a blown head gaskit but it turns out that it was a cracked head! So replaced those. Then I decided to do water pump and oil pump and put it back together to find out that it still won't start and that the timing chain jumped a gear, plus I have a flat cam lobe and collapsed lifters! Our trucks are so much fun some times!

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

I had to take my door back because they screwed up on the paint for the 3rd time. ill post a pic of the paint that lifted on the cab seam. missed paint on the rocker panel and now the door...not to happy with them. this weekend I hope to get everything fitted if I get the door back by then. I started restoring my vent windows, and I reassemble the one door. I put a pic up of my seat that I scored from a guy in my area and dyed it black. that's about it for now...enjoy the pics!
