Re: The Blue Goose

ITS ALIVE!

Thanks for all the advise. Much better driveability than the thumpr, It was a little big and really didnt come in at rpms I could use. The voodoo pulls just a LITTLE bit harder (but its not tuned all the way yet).

Gotta put the hood back on do afew more misc things on the motor/tune more

Re: The Blue Goose

Great build. Sucks about what happened with the bearings though. I've always ran Joe Gibbs Hot Rod oil, I've done lots of reading and the VR1 oil has only a little bit more zddp than a standard motor oil....it still doesn't offer the maximum protection available. I would either add comp's break in oil additive to every change (just zddp in a bottle) or run Gibbs oil (its like $8 a quart but its worth it).

You have a great truck/driver/project on your hands, and it also sounds like you have the best girlfriend a guy could ask for; she's really pretty, and she helps you work on your truck. That's awesome!

Hold on to both of them as long as you can.(your truck and your girl).

I look forward to keeping up with your build, I'll try to keep you updated with mine as well......

Re: The Blue Goose

They also have a product out there called ZDDP plus, I believe its made by Isky cams or is at least a part of their company....but that would be something to add instead of the comp additive as well (if you don't decide to go with the Joe Gibbs). A reputable race engine builder who lives down the street from me recommended I run Gibbs in a motor he built for me a while back. He said its one of the best oils on the market.

Re: The Blue Goose

Well im leaving in the AM for meps and then to Tx for my basic training. I'll miss the truck forum Not sure how often I'll be on here in the next little while. Nate-maybe you and beth can convince britt to drive my truck to some close by cruise ins this summer Im hoping I can hit one late summer/fall sometime. Put stabil in the truck this AM with non ethanol gas. Gonna try to pull the plugs and put some oil in the holes and swap the tires out before i leave in the AM but we'll see

Thanks guys. I got some chevy tinkerin' last nite with my buddy we pulled the engine outta his 73 camaro (running alot of 'pro comp' chinese parts I think did some engine damage...lol I called it a ricer since it has so much chinese stuff but I enjoyed workin' on it with him.

So long!

(This is Brittany) I just wanted to let everyone know that John made it to TX last night. They took his phone so no calls for awhile. He decided not to change the tires on his truck and his dad is suppose to start it and maybe drive it some.

Slick copper- He's been trying to teach me how to drive it since he got it. I can't shift it or hold the clutch in, slowly let off of it & press the gas pedal all at the same time. I need more hands and feet I guess lol.

Re: The Blue Goose

I was just wondering how John was doing. Hope all is well.

Do you know where in Texas he is? Probably San Antonio.

My dad was in the Air Force late 1960 and I believe he did basic training in San Antonio. Later served on Edwards Air Force base in California.

Hubscrub- I'll try to go to some of them.. but I doubt I will be in John's truck. (Probably end up in a ditch somewhere if I attempt that without him haha.) Please keep us updated on when & where some cruise ins are so if John gets to come home for awhile, hopefully we can go to one. Thanks! -Britt

Re: The Blue Goose

lil hoodlum- I have not heard from John since Wednesday (& that was when he called his dad). Yes, he is in San Antonio, Texas for his basic training. I sent him a letter today & in it I told him that I let everyone on here know that he had made it safely. I hope to get a letter from him soon. That must be a great honor to have a dad that was in the Air Force! John is the 4th generation to be part of the military. -Britt

Re: The Blue Goose

JUST GOT A CALL FROM JOHN!!!! He said they get a few minutes (8 I believe) to call everyone. I asked him how he has been and he said he gets yelled at a lot because he doesn't know what he's doing & that it's definitely an experience. He said he gets about 4 hours of sleep then they all have to run/exercise. He also said it's nice to finally talk to people. He told me that he got my letter and that he sent me one back on Friday.. so hopefully I will get it tomorrow or Tuesday.

Re: The Blue Goose

haha sorry, I was excited. I received two letters today from him. He doesn't like the food, running 45 min. every morning, 1 minute showers with 6 other people, etc...
His dad brought our marine battery over a few days ago.. (John had borrowed it because his other battery in his truck was dead.) He was going to switch them before he left but all the wires that were connected to the Marine battery, at the time, wouldn't reach to the car battery. (They were too short or something?) If that makes any sense?
