Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Interesting truck - white/dk yellow with orange plaid is a striking combo. It's interesting how much trouble a po went to in order to make it a solid white truck. Check out that SPID - what I find interesting is that there appears to be white paint on top of the SPID clear cover (i.e. masked off the rectangular border of the SPID that was below the clear cover), and there also appears to be white UNDER the peeled up corners of the SPID (which I would have expected to be dark yellow...) Hmmm.. Nice find Dale, I saw that one on cl and thought "just another white C20..." (and I already have one)... and didn't ask for a SPID - am glad you did. The rust seems to be the reason for the price tag being "reasonable" but what a cool truck.

EDIT: Btw, this is what it would kinda look like. A beautiful, very uncommon 72 factory color -

Its because of you that I look for those hidden Highlanders.. I noted the door panels, black dash cover, black side vents. The dark yellow and the orange plaid is a really nice combo.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I wasn't sure where to put this. I found a great deal on a OEM original 72 Owners manual for 5 bucks in nice shape. I have one or I would jump on it. It is on eBay. Someone should grab this if you don't have one.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Another really nice camper. 68 CST $9700.

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...238992530.html

Very rare and vintage, I've tried to find others like it and have had no luck. Runs and drives great, interior is flawless except one little rip on the side backrest passenger side seat. CST package for 50th year C series anniversary includes powers steering. Truck Body has no dents and all glass is original and great shape. Camper body has minor imperfections given the year it was manufactured. All propane lines work to the heater and stove top elements. The only thing im not sure of is the refrigerator and possibly some of the plumbing lines. The water pump does work. Perfect for a very easy and fairly inexpensive full restoration. Truck was sent from the factory to Open Road Campers to have the chassis mounted camper attached. I would love to hold onto it but I don't have the time or money for it and have just had a death in the family recently. Willing to negotiate and answer any questions. Erik

It does seem to have some extra kindling in the cab. But from the photos it doesn't seem to be a un-reversible situation. Unless it is hiding a greater evil that lurks underneath. OH THE SUSPENSE!!!!!!

Looks like a very solid truck (CAL REG) for the Midwest. Someone should snag it if they're looking for a nice Longhorn

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

NOt CL, but has a BIN on ebay, so thought I'd share - don't see many of 68 Custom Campers with original 396/TH400 (but I'd confirm that originality before buying - it was at least born with both). Seller seems to not know much about the truck - could not identify TH400 (and probably a lot of folks can't) and also has a total of zero feedback, so might be something to consider - good candidate to see in person, that's what I'd want to do (if you blow up the first pic, you can see the telephone number... ). Camper comes with it, although it's not exactly period correct. Nice old truck. $6800 BIN probably isn't out of the ballpark on it - but it does have some rocker rot. Anyway, love the custom campers... enjoy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/292181755760

I agree a super nice combo of colors and options. So a big block with 4:10s the A/C on and loaded with an 11 1/2 ft Camper doing 55MPH bucking a 30MPH wind , any gas mileage estimates? Not that I care just curious. Eric you are right, an almost one of a kind, especially the color combo, unique truck.

72 GMC K1500 (dressed as a Chev) $16.5K https://springfield.craigslist.org/c...235615879.html

69 CST10 Custom Camper 396 $13,750 (but check out that SPID! (granted, some of its "heft" is because the Oshawa trucks list some extra verbiage, but still, nicely optioned truck))
FWIW, I've seen this truck in person (and for sale) at a local Goodguys show - price has come down a bit, but it is every bit as nice as it looks in the pics.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Interesting Highlander. I'm kinda wondering if the doors have been replaced before a repaint. Looks to have 69-70 mirror screw holes. Or perhaps someone had those on in place of the camper mirrors and then the camper mirrors were reinstalled (that would be ideal, if it were original paint, I mean). Have never seen med green and gray plaid together before! Real nice truck. If interested in originality, potential buyers should look closely at the doors on the inside - check for the vent window support screw, that will confirm as a 72-only door, and thus, original sheet metal to the truck.
