Medium Duty trucks

Hello Medium duty truck lovers; Need some help! Had a couple of men that I had confidence in gouge machined surfaces where the bearing races set in my c50 hubs. I am sick over it. Before I start to attempt to remedy it any suggestions. Please no insults to injury. At this point shame on me. I'm hoping a dermal tool, meticulous patience, and use a loc tite produce that is used in the paper making machine industry to fill the voids will do it. Though would appreciate some input while I'm still in the informal stage. Anybody spiritual out there? I'm wondering what God is trying to show me, where this will lead me, what I will be able to understand because of it. I'm hoping someone can identify with this challenge that has been put before me. bushy

It should be alright. As long as the new race goes in tight you won't have to use any lock tite. I would use a brass punch to put the new one in or the correct tool if you have one. Pack some grease in the new bearing to pre lube it. Good luck.

Hopfully this works. This was my Dad's and he sold it ten years ago. I found it sitting behind a barn last year and now it sits behind my garage. Needs a new dump body, the last owner tried to dump a load of rocks and the piston pushed up through the floor.

Anybody know where I can find good used or aftermarket parts for this beast? Will rockers for a small truck fit this? I need a driver side running board.

Never seen a hub like that before Busy. Does the bearing and race go in form the back side of the hub? Must have a large snap ring keping it in place. Any luck getting it back together?

There used to be one of those cabovers converted to a carhauler in Phoenix about 10 years ago or so. It was yellow and that made it look huge.

Thanks for the Info on the wheels. I have been looking for a replacement for my widow makers on my 72 C/50. Love the Big trucks, and this board.

My Dad has ran many of these 67-72 C50 and C60 trucks over the years. We also had a 57 265 V8, a 63 C60 250 I6, 73 C60 427. Now he runs a 83 C50 350 V8 and a International S1700. The C40 and C50 has smaller front fender flares then the C60 C70 so the fender extension running down to the running board is wider to match the fender keep this in mind when looking for parts. Most of these truck parts are still available from GM heavy truck dealer (they can look them up) as many of the parts are used up into 80's posibly the 90's. If you look at a pickup doors front clower corner inside you will see a line this is where the pickup door needs trimmed (notched out) to fit the C40-up large front fenders. The cab corners are the same the rocker panels need the same notch to clear the fenders. All C40-up has small back glass like a 67 pick up. The shape of the firewall is a little different on the C40-up cabs since the engine is located lower and farther back on them. Some school buses used the 68-72 front nose clip well into the 80's. We used a 84 C60 rear axle in the 63 C60 dad had and it bolted right in no problem. most all brake parts we need was available at Napa.

I always wanted to build a 4-door C60 427 using the big back window pickup cab as a donor with AC and CST trim and chrome the grill/headlight panels and bumper. I'll keep dreaming!! any other question about thes trucks let me know. Jason

Hello All, I just picked up a deal at the scrapyard this week. 1970 Chevy C60 350, 5 speed/2 speed rear dump truck. Guy in front of me was going to scrap it. He drove it in! any way it followed me home. It has the usual rust, and a good amount of it too!! The first annoying thing that I need to fix is the master cylinder cover gasket. it leaks It is the rectangular single master that powers the vac unit under the cab. Anyone got a part number or a line on one? Thanks!! And here are a couple of pics.

Mrolds88, you are the man for saving this truck from the crusher. I have a 72 C/50 rollback. I love the old big trucks. This is all you hear about lately is the bigger trucks getting scraped. If you need help with any parts let me know as I am in Md also. Scott

Greg, I have a set of the side steps that are in better shape then the ones u have, they have a few rust holes in them but look alot better then yours. If you want them, you can have them. Just come pick them up. Scott
