Did you take it to cherry auction today? I thought I saw one very similar rolling in as we were leaving.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

Bad juju for the seller. I'm not reccomending any sort of retribution outside of the law but it's people that lie and cheat that makes a person want to fill a visine bottle with super glue and wrap it in free sample packaging and stuff it in their mailbox. Probably more appropriate to turn the other cheek tho...

Yes I did... first time there and got there late..
Got a lot of attention. Got stupid offers.
I do have one serious buyer but he's offering $10k.
I think I should have taken it to Pomona..

Regardless of what you paid for it, 10K is a very good offer for a truck that has had both the frame and bed shortened. Was the guy who made that offer aware that this truck was cut down from a long bed?

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

Not getting what you thought you were can sting I admit. If a person builds a truck like that it will cost well over the price you paid.

We built a '67 swb stepper late last year. It started out a C-20 lwb stepper, but we did use a swb frame and bed from another truck. It is not as nice as the one you bought and it would have have cost at least what you paid, except we did all the work including the painting.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

This happened to me as well. I just found out last week after owning the truck since July. I'm having a new motor out in so we pulled all the exhaust. That is when i noticed the big plate on the inside. Thank go they did a good job. I bought mine "as is" so there would have been zero I could do.

They plated it up and finished up the outside rail real nice. I will admit I lost a little sleep but im over it now. This truck is a childhood dream come true. (Im now 40) Again shes plated up and looks really good. And...oh yeah...shes got a new ZZ4 motor. Time to drive her and enjoy it.

This post helped me feel good about my purchase. Thank you!

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

Clean truck heathbirkendahl!
I learned what really matters is how much you enjoy your truck.
I have learned a lot and keep learning from this site & people I meet.
When I drove into that auto swap meet (late.. lol) and all eyes were on my truck...
Those are priceless moments..

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

The priceless moments absolutely are the best shoot I get any range of personality and age complimenting mine whenever I stop for a sip of gas in the truck even had one this morning and older gentleman remarking that he was always a big fan of old bowties. Makes you feel really good for what you own and drive. It's a lot of pride to own a classic and its worth every bit of heartache. mine wont ever be a true cheyenne super but it'll be my own twist on what I perceive as the ultimate truck for myself and I've grown to accept that. I hope you can find the true heart in your own frankenstein because she is honestly a beauty whether it's legit or not

Like I said before,if your truck is as nice as it looks it is well worth what you paid. If it was a factory short bed it would be worth more.

I read this whole post , first let me say NICE TRUCK ! I hate to see stuff like this happen but I am a old HORSE TRADER that's what mot people now know as a PICKER but anyway I DO NOT think sellers should misrepresent anything like that and Im sorry but in the world of buying and selling between individuals (DOES NOT APPLY TO NEW ITEMS FROM A STORE) we have an unwritten rule or two ,,,
#1 when you sell something you no longer own it .
#2 when you buy something it is yours .
LOL I know but really in the real world that's the way it is ,,,,,
Id plate it and drive it !

Then why would you sell it? Was your original intention to flip the truck? If not, just keep it and be happy.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed

I would ask him for some money back and keep the truck. The truck looks pretty good... I would not really mind tht it has been cut..but its really only matters what you mind. I believe you can sue him at small claims court. Going to your local court house and getting info from small claims section is the best option if your looking to sue.
