Hickey fuel tank washer nuts

I have a customer doing a very correct Hickey build and he needed these made so I made a few extras. These are the washer nuts for the extra large tanks. 2" OD with 3/8" square drive center hole and 2 3/16" holes. I weld a 1.5" long sleeve nut to the back side just like the originals. Just wondering if anyone else needs one.

Erik I believe these were also used for both factory accessory aux fuel tanks for 71-72 pickups as well as the similar dealer/aftermarket aux tanks. Posting an add to the pickup board may yield additional takers. Best, Pete

Pete, I do believe you are correct, and used ones very rarely come off in one piece if all all

Thanks Pete. I'll get a post going their too. Out of 16 I've only pull one out complete. On the new ones the sleeve nut OD is just a bit smaller to prevent rust weld. Also anti seize would be wise.

Re: Hickey fuel tank washer nuts

How did you form those washers? Blank was probably cut with laser or water, but just wondering how you got the dome shape to it.

Re: Hickey fuel tank washer nuts

They are first laser cut then formed with a pressing die with the knockout rod removed.

Re: Hickey fuel tank washer nuts

Thanks !! I thought maybe you had a different method so that a die wouldn't have to be made for such a small production run. They look great.

Re: Hickey fuel tank washer nuts

I have an ever growing collection of simple dies. Perfect for projects like these.
