Ok - I lied...

Technically, I wasn't totally done - I was missing one lock rod knob.

It arrived today and my son Joseph wanted to make the installation.

He wanted to be able to say "...my Dad started this but I was the one that finished it!"

LOL!

Now it's done.

Yes - those are from LMC.

I wasn't sure I was going to like them, because they are "blow molded" rather than injection molded - but - by the time you dress them out with the original trim, door handle pockets, arm rests, etc they look good to me.

Yes - we have a few tomatos left. We've had a very cool summer so no concerns with them "burning up".

Hey Keith I don't think your done. I was just noticing that you didn't put the emblems back on the front fenders.

just kidding. I'm sure you meant to leave them off. Just thought I would give you a hard time. I may have even missed where you talked about not putting them back on.

Yep - that and leaving the tailgate clean are the only exterior visual differences from when it was new.

PS - I always hated those "yellow" fender emblems, even when it was new! If you look back in the "before" pictures you can see the remains of where I had painted them black, back in the day.

Came (to me) as a 389 4 speed, and I found an SD421 in perfect low mileage condition out of a Super Tempest that had been wrapped around a new Mexico Pine tree about 5K miles after it was driven off the lot. My GTO was in great shape too, owned by an older guy who in (1976) just wanted to get rid of it for something with better mileage and get out from under what he named the GTO, my little ticket machine!

I stuck the SD421 in it and put in a Borg Warner Power Brute clutch and the thing was super fast. I was sitting at a stop sign one day, the clutch had such a hard pedal my leg would start shaking if I was stopped for more than about ten seconds, and I was just about to take off when a large almost pop scared the crap out of me and the headliner was smoking! I had no way to move the car because when the pop happened it stalled.

Turns out the clutch blew and grenaded itself and the reason the headliner was smoking is part of it, a piece about the size of a slice of pizza, was lodged in my ceiling! After retracing the path, it missed my left cheek by about a quarter inch, then I remembered something hot screming by my face.....

I got rid of it but sure wish I still had it.

I had the body shop pull it.

I fooled around with it but everytime I'd get it where I wanted it it would "oil can" and pop back in.

The driver's door was actually worse (because it was more creased) - I had them do both.

yea i have that on both sides.my drivers door is bad.the guy who had it ,locked it and closed the door and it didnt close all the way and put his hip into it

so you think it can be fixed or i need a new door?

We use to call that the Chevy Truck Ass Dent back in the 70s and 80s because it was usually there because someone leaned their ass against the door and it went PLUNK, and there you go! We would pull that dent with a plunger or pop off the panel next time we hadda be "in there" and pop it out for a while till you'd be driving along and hear it go PLONK or DOINK and pop itself back in.
