Frame blueprint for 56 chevy shortbed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Looking for exact measurements for a 56 chevy shortbed. Gonna build my own frame as mine has been hacked up by a shady camaro clip install. I emailed some of the companies that offer complete frames and havent gotten any replies. Any help?

Did you try Art Morrison? I saw an article recently where they were digging through stacks of traditional blueprints.

Factory assembly manual and tech specs at TOCMP will give you the frame dimension and mounting points for shackles, cross members, etc.

lots of cool information, not as much frame detail as I remembered. You might look at the 59 truck section too, same as 55-57 except a couple of inches longer at the front.

It seems like there's more and more blind links every time I go back there.
If you spend enough time there, there's several links that take you to where there is a lot of good info, it's just not very user friendly IMHO. It's a very useful site, I just wish they would organize it a little better.

What are you planning on doing? What type of front and rear suspension?

It has a camaro clip on it already but it was done wrong. Ill be cutting that thing off and probably selling it. I was thinking about building a front suspension from scratch. Rear will probably just be a 4 link setup of some sort.

Your in luck my friend, I forgot that I had these in my assembly manual. Sorry if some of the numbers are fuzzy but the scanner isnt the greatest. You can copy the picture to your hard drive and then blow it up to see them. Cheers!

Btw, now you have to give me your suspension designs

Thats exactly what i need! But i cant blow it up, its gets all fuzzy on me. Does it look ok your screen? can ya email it to me?

the link works for me, and 55-59 are basically the same like OrrieG said above except a few inches longer in the fron due to sheetmetal
