Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project

Ever thought about cutting the axle? I have cut three. If the welder knows what they are doing the axle will brake somewhere else before the weld does. Cut in the center and remove 4 inches from each side. Spring pads are easy enough to duplicate. Just a thought.AND for the record if I have not told you this is one cool build. Any chance that you have another snub nose front cap around. I have a nast idea in my head.

Yes, I was planning on cutting it from the beginning. I just though heck if I could buy a narrower one it would save a bunch of time. I am a pretty good welder I have been doing it for a long time. But, I have never cut an axle down. What is the best way to go about it, and do you have any pictures of the 3 you have cut?
