Tachometer

Does anyone know what is involved to install a factory tach in 72 Suburban that came with no tach? I'm not nuts about the empty space and would like to fill.

Re: Tachometer

Hey Bennett....first off welcome aboard from NC...if ya didn't know already, we like seeing pictures of your ride

With the tach, are you installing an aftermarket or do you have a factory tach dash that you'll swap in?

I was thinking of picking up a tach from LMC but before I did - I wanted to know what other parts I may need to make it work.

Re: Tachometer

Brothers sells a complete kit to convert your existing dash to a tach dash (inner/outer tins, circuit board, etc) I have used one and was very happy with it.

Re: Tachometer

thanks for the heads up on Brother's Trucks!
One more question - I have a 400 cubic inch - would that be a 5000 rpm tach or
is it an 8000 rpm tach.
Ya I know.......a real novice!

5K rpm is factory for our trucks. you can also get aftermarket 8K tach dashes now too.

Re: Tachometer

Alot of people have used 2nd generation Camaro tachs and found a way to cut their tins and mount them. I understand this can be done fairly easily and the tachs are 7000 RPM

Welcome from Western Canada. You will find the nicest people and any and all the info you need on this site. By the look of your Burb I do not think it needs too much. Did you recently buy the Burb. I have been looking for a Burb like yours for a few years now ( and I search far and wide, eh Geoff ) and do not remember seeing it for sale anywhere.

Re: Tachometer

I have a twin to yours. I think I saw yours forsale a few years back. We'll pics look the same anyway. Just buy the complete kit from LMC or brothers. It's the easy way to go and will look stock and work great. Art
