68 C20 4 wheel disc options

Changing to disc and have looked at the faq sticky for fronts. From that it looks like I can swap the complete cross member from a 73-87 truck or just the knuckles and ball joints.
Wondering if anyone has done rear disc and if they used these?

Thanks, Joe

Re: 68 C20 4 wheel disc options

71/72 3/4 ton have front disk brakes. You are going to need the A frames or whole crossmember as the ball joints are different between the early trucks and 71 and up.

Any are going to set the wheels out a bit from the 68 drum brake tread width.

The only rub I see on that rear brake kit is that it doesn't have any provisions for park/emergency brake. Most guys use a Cadillac Eldorado rear caliper set and they are a bit spendy. I bought the caliper brackets off Ebay and rotors but haven't got the calipers yet for my 71 GMC 3/4 ton. Work on that truck is stalled out a bit while I get work done on other projects.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
